Hello fellas,
A quick intro...had a '12 hemi ram....was quiet...awesome. Traded it in for a new '17......took me a couple days to come to terms in my mind that my new truck sounded like ****...I had the hemi tick. I have been reading all the great info on here on Red line and moly additives.

What I can't seem to find is any info on the "Liqui Moly hydraulic lifter additive".

Can anybody help with their experience on this?
Do you have good or bad knowledge of this product in the hemi engines?

TIA

Greg

I went to penzoil ultra platinum after redline and my motor ran very loud I put in the liquimoly additive and after about a week it quietened it down alot . it does seem to work but it might take it a little while.

Not a huge fan of additives, IMO most oils have enough additives to begin with. Easiest thing to do that works for most is try a different brand and/or switch to 5W30. My truck likes 5W30 Mobil1, some have to run Redline, some Amsoil, some Penzoil...basically have to figure out what the truck likes best.

:word:

First and foremost, rule out exhaust bolts. Take 1 inch hose to your ear and each manifold bolt, see if you can identify it as a tick area.

Lubeguard's additives science in solid, but the guys who have tried it with hemi tick (sewing machine sound) didn't get any results. I tried lique moly moly treatment didn't work, I say maybe their hydraulic additive is different. worth a shot. It looks like a "cleaner" product, I doubt that is your problem. I dunno, their other additive is powdered moly in suspension, I don't think that will work as good as the organic oil soluble in Redline. You be the Guinea pig. I say it's worth a try, but you have to understand, for a moly additive to work it needs to plate and that is a process. It wont be like I add it and it disappears in 95% of the situations. Give it a try, and if not try Redline like most of the rest of us do. Get a Royal purple filter or equivalent.

Why aren't you back at the dealer instead of trying mechanic in a can??

This ^^^^^^^^^^^ But you also may want to make sure it isn't an exhaust bolt as Burla pointed out just so you have a better idea of what's going on before you take it in to dealer.

Thanks for the responses.
I am fussy as anything...I have been back to the dealer who suggested an oil change under warranty (I was at 2500km then) and they added some lucas oil treatment. We decided i would drive it and see what happens. In the mean time I thought I would do my own research and see what I could learn.
I'm trying to avoid some pissed off flat rate paid tech having a bad day with my engine all apart and the many things that can go wrong with that senario...(engine leaks, paint scratches, dents etc.)
If I can find a solution other than the engine having to come apart that I can live with...I thought that would make me happy.

I agree, I would start taking to dealer in case it's a lemon case. Look at your local lemon laws. Here you need the item fixed in 4 attempts.

I put a 80% chance Redline would work IF IT IS LIFTER TICK, we are probably up to twenty members at this point who have tried Redline for this including me and H395, and most it has actually worked. I wished I would have done a running list, I can't believe how impressed I am with the results, but know it surely isn't 100%. I stopped counting when the first 8 out of ten guys it worked great. Seams like it has helped everyone since then as well. It takes about 500 miles for the Moly to plate. If you already put Lucas in, I would start thinking about NOT just packing a bunch of additives in there. Maybe try the liqued moly. try using 1/2 the can, don't dump the entire can in there. No matter what, if you try Redline please post the results in the Syn thread either if it worked or not. I like the Royal Purple or Amsoil filter with that.

Do yourself a favor & listen to Burla.

If the dealer ends up being little or No Help in this matter? Which most are worthless!

Give Red Line (either) 5W-20/0W-30/5W-30 a shot at working its magic.
(Be Patient) & Give it plenty of time to plate all of those high pressure/heated moving parts before you pass judgment to fast.

Run it for at least 8-10K miles along with either a RP/FU/Wix XP filter. Dumping it earlier is just a total waste of good oil/filter & $$$!

It is a bit costly but the end result in most cases is well worth it!
