Is your jeep getting better mileage than your truck or about the same? If I recall correctly the new jeeps have a 5 speed auto. I see a new transmission somewhere in its future. With the 8 and 9 speeds that chrysler is using in other vehicles im surprised they haven't integrated it into the wrangler.

The Jeep gets quite a bit better, averaging around 18-19 right now. The truck was lucky to average 13-14. But it has a lot to do with the truck begging to be driven fast, and the Jeep begging to just cruise along.

For a vehicle that can be taken rock crawling in nearly stock form, I think the 5 speed is the right transmission for now. You can drive around all day in first gear! Lol.
We just got my wife a 2016 Cherokee with the 9 speed and that thing drives like a dream, silky smooth and quiet. You really have to pay attention to feel it shift. I may be alone here, but I love it's quirky design, too!

Looks good David! I'd love to get a wrangler one day!

Jeeps looking good. I like the way you understate your mods. The devil is in the details.

Lol! Thanks! I like understated, when everything more or less blends together on a vehicle and no single mod draws attention to it self...

Thanks, you too.

Thanks man! I am agonizing over the wheels. Lol

I really like the AEV Savegres, but I have been hearing of some problems with the finish on them, so I don't know.

Those look like the stock steelies on the Ram Tradesman.

Just buy some Ram steelies and powdercoat them black, lol. Although, I have no idea about offset or bolt pattern.

A couple guys have asked me for updated pics of the Jeep, so here they are... Nothing that exiting done to it, just some very subtle mods.

I did a third spring swap to get the desired height and ride I was looking for... I was playing with various spring rates front and back to get the right combination and I'm happy with it. Plus, I am getting really fast at dropping the axles on this thing! Lol

Also, I cut up a security cover for the trunk to cover the subwoofer. Then carpeted it and put some hooks on it so I can secure "cargo" with a net or bungees.

Some things on the hood: latches, and aluminum deSnubbers and footman loop.

I am still looking for wheels... Next up though will be engine bay. There are not a lot of products out there for the Wrangler engine bays, so I might have to make some things myself. :naughty:

The top will be coming off in the next couple weeks, so I am in the process of building a mount of some sort, to be able to hang the hard top from the garage ceiling directly suspended over the Jeep...

Oh, and I got some bad news yesterday, Royal Purple does not make oil filters for the Jeep's 3.6. :(

Royal Purple actually recommended Mobil 1 and Bosch filters as the next best... I got laughed at on WranglerForum for saying that I will be using Redline oil at my first oil change... Lol.

Man Dave, you need to get busy. Three of my top mods for the Jeep, Safari nets, Arb Bumper and rock bars. Best mod ever, PIAA's. With the safari nets, I left the top off all summer. Actually ran a long wire lock through them. You can even put the top back on over the nets. Sometimes you can drive with just the top panels off and the nets.

Fram ultra make a filter for that? Wix XP? Amsoil?

Damn that's nice! Have you been hiding this from me?! Lol

I know, I am moving kinda slow with this build... Work has been kicking my ass and since this thing is not going off road, I don't really need certain mods.
I have a mesh top waiting for when the top comes off that I'll throw on.

I need to look into the filters, I am not sure who makes one for the Jeep. One things for sure, I am still stick with my beloved Redline oil despite the price and ridicule from the Jeep camp! Lol

Looking good!! I like the aluminum interior pieces. Try a Wix filter. Supposed to be very good. What Wrangler forum are you most on?

WranglerForum.com lol

I'll check out Wix. Thanks!!!

I guess the biggest mod is the invisible one, the audio, I have got it all done and tuned and it's amazing (if I say so myself).
I demoed it a couple times last week and both listeners were blown away, they both said "I have never heard anything like that in my entire life." That felt good to hear... :)
The output is tremendous, the bass is violent, but most importantly the sound quality is really good for a vehicle that is about the worst platform for good sound quality.

Dave I'm pretty disgusted that thing still looks stock.

Thats awesome! It must have been weird to be working with speakers in the roll cage.

Wtf?! Why didn't you?! :roflsquared:

I have some things in the works, but this will not be an over-the-top, look-at-me build. I want to keep this thing practical and not a theft magnet especially when the top is off. Well, I say that now, who knows what the future holds! ;)

About the rollcage/sound bar speakers, it took me some time and effort to figure out how to use them properly... They are pumping out 200 watts and are quite loud, but when sitting in the drivers seat you can not tell that there is any sound coming from that area at all! They are literally projecting their sound to the dash, almost like a ventriloquist! Lol

David, I just ran through your two build threads. As usual attention to detail is amazing and I am shocked you lifted it!! I was not expecting that!
