I would think best time to FF your truck is summertime as well. Since oil and water don't mix, I would rather spray it on a dry suspension.

So far it has creeped well. We had some high temp days here in Ohio when I sprayed. Three more Gallons and six cans are sitting :) I noticed a severe Vibration at 70-80 mph so have that to attend to now. 22" non Factory Fuel wheels but a different topic.

Now that winter is approaching I need to spend some time on the M35A2 for wood hauling. (About a month of supply sitting) but I will try to do a hand wash and post more pics of the 2016 Ram results this weekend. Have to complete a Water Pump replacement on the '03 as well. But it's the 4.7 so mostly as a backup or for my GF to use. Then there is the Kubota Maintenance to do. It never ends lol

Cosmoline was literally on everything we got in the Army repair parts wise. Often wrapped in heavy paper. I was a 52 Series.

Did my annual FF application yesterday. I tried some Woolwax this year on the high wash areas and I used their black product on the rear axle. Since I used both FF and WW I can see which lasts better thru the winter.

I do like the black for certain areas. I don't think I'd do the whole undercarriage with it but for things that are visible like the rear axle it does make it look nice. FF just released a black product as well.ad21b46f03a686e633bef2ebc994610c.jpgbab68e1bf82e2e702ca645faea2afd07.jpg

2013 ram that lives in salt state with zero rust right there...
It's funny when I was under there spraying it again I was amazed at how good it looked. Any rust that was there was from before I started applying FF. But it hasn't grown at all in 4 years.

I live near the ocean and they throw salt/brine on the road if it MIGHT snow and the my undercarriage is the same as it was 4 years ago. To me that's proof FF and products like it do work.

Fluid film actually neutralizes salt. The FF undercoating place here where I live has some very good videos showing it penetrates through the salt and into the pores in the metal. Salt build up on the car falls off after a few days even in sub freezing weather as FF continues to creep and penetrate.
It really is amazing stuff. Some of it will wash out over winter with the slush and water blasting on it at highway speeds, but it's still there penetrated into the metal pores. Still doing it's job neutralizing rust and corrosion.

I did the driver side inside bits yesterday (under wheel well, rockers, doors, inside fram) plan on doing the other side tomorrow and the rest on the weekend.

Question though, I only went through about 3 cans and a quarter gallon through the spray can last year, am I underspraying or something? If I am it could be due to my compressor being too small and having to pause so much waiting for pressure to build.

Was it the first time you sprayed the truck last year? If so that is a little low usage. If it's the second or third time it's probably about right.

What psi are you spraying at?

I did my truck the first year with a 1.5 gallon pancake compressor and it took FOREVER because I would spray for a few seconds and have to wait a min for it build pressure again. Finally bought a bigger upright compressor and it works so much better.

I try setting it to 60psi but it only lasts a few seconds at that pressure before it dips down. I even heat up the FF to try and make it easier but that didn't help since it would cool off while waiting for the pressure to rebuild.

Yeah I found it doesn't really spray a lot of FF until you hit 80-90 psi....

Or,

Warm it and spray it out of an electric harbor freight paint sprayer [emoji16][emoji16]

I'd go with what @U&A said [emoji106]

I cant change what im doing. Is so simple. I got a new compressor (30 gallon 2stage 110v/240v. 175psi) a few weeks ago too that will work with a spray gun but why change [emoji1787]

Same sprayer used for this only probably 7 times now.

Doing the wife’s ranger soon too.
