I wouldnt put tweeters in the dash, too far from the mid driver 6.5

Sorry, but this isn't correct. They may be far, but components are 100% the way to go over 3.5" in the dash. Put the tweeter to -3 to reduce windshield reflection and it is fine. It also helps with height an depth of the stage. The amount of extra sound and mess you get with running 4 tweeters in front stage (and off the same channel at that), is just not a good result.

Going components with a seperate tweeter is always a great option. Im not a fan of little 3.5" speakers handling ALL of the highs in the frequency range...they simply do not provide that sparkle that nice tweeters provide. A nice midbass driver should be able to handle everything up to the tweeter (frequency wise) then let the tweeter take over. But I am not a fan of having 6.5" speakers being the largest speaker in the system....generally speaking, 6.5" tend to lose composure and mechanical girth around 80-100hz. Anything below that point, there is simply no authority or fun factor. If all you listen to is talk radio....go for it. But if you want accurate music reproduction with components, a subwoofer would add that smile to your face...simple as that. Components with no subwoofer sound like headphones that are around your neck, not on your ears....thin

Kicker does make 6x9 components that fit the bill here. That being said, I have heard many components sets that sound pretty darn good with a low filter and no woofer. Do they start lacking on the top end volume? Sure, but they get the job done for the average consumer.

Simple eh? What goes into installing the crossovers?

Also, you guys think only having the door speakers would be a good idea in a regular cab?

Just door speakers is fine... 90% of cars have just that. Speakers up top give you some height and depth.

Installing xover - cut speaker wires going to the radio (leave a few inches), radio side of wire goes to crossover input, harness side of wire goes to woofer output, and then run new lines from your tweeters to the crossover, then obviously those go to tweeter output.

If you went this route, I would install male quick connects on the radio side and female on the harness side, that way you easily extend wire to put the crossovers somewhere else (drop them lower under the radio ), AND you can go back to factory in a few minutes.

In my regular cab I did the 6.75" in doors, tweeters in dash, used the DSP off a Kicker IQ5004 though, blended flawlessly

You cannot put ANY 6x9 in the doors. For example the XS69 drivers need much more than 1/4".

man you are one serious TROLL aren't ya?

Don't post incorrect information, when you experience is limited to one speaker and one truck.

This issue has happened to more than one member. Also you fail to consider that "two spacers" is not a solid baffle, also you fail to take into consideration excursion of a speaker. Space between the panel and the speakers is not "a lot". The factory Alpine speakers have roughly ~.5" from the door. I would be willing to bet your Kicker Co-ax is closer than .5" from the tweeter to the door. The XS69 woofers I speak of needed at least .5" just to mount screw it on, and even then the magnet was still right on the window track.

So if calling out false information is being a troll, so be it.

For 6x9's in Ram doors, the list is actually pretty small when it comes to what will fit and what will not. Many members have had to send back various 6x9's due to depth issues, basket clearance issues, excursion issues etc...
Alpine type S
various JBL
some pioneer
some Infinity
some Kicker
some others.
Image Dynamic's monster xs69's will not fit. I've purchased them HOPING TO GOD they would fit....but they wont
adding too much spacer will cause excursion issues, OR the mounting plate will hit the inner concave of the factory door panel
Don't get me wrong, I'll cut up a door and make anything "fit"...but most members are not willing to pull out those types of tools lol

Kicker DS and CS may fit, regular cab, versus CC and QC. The Kicker QSC69 will, as it has neo magnets and a true point source....but $400 a pair too <eek>
