Going components with a seperate tweeter is always a great option. Im not a fan of little 3.5" speakers handling ALL of the highs in the frequency range...they simply do not provide that sparkle that nice tweeters provide. A nice midbass driver should be able to handle everything up to the tweeter (frequency wise) then let the tweeter take over. But I am not a fan of having 6.5" speakers being the largest speaker in the system....generally speaking, 6.5" tend to lose composure and mechanical girth around 80-100hz. Anything below that point, there is simply no authority or fun factor. If all you listen to is talk radio....go for it. But if you want accurate music reproduction with components, a subwoofer would add that smile to your face...simple as that. Components with no subwoofer sound like headphones that are around your neck, not on your ears....thin
