I hate the 65RFE for the sole reason of how hard it is to accurately measure the fluid, the dipstick says 180 but i’m sitting here saying “***** THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO 180 IS TO TOW A TRAILER UP A 90° CLIFF IN A 120° DAY

Probably my last question on the matter, but the truck is reading slightly high on the dipstick at 160, should i drain some more out till it gets to the bottom notch of the “HOT” reading, to compensate for the heat?

How much higher? Alittle leeway should be ok. As long as it's not super high. Is it perfectly level?

Perfectly level, and by a little high it’s touching the higher notch on the dipstick.

Others will Probly chime in. But if it's in the mark and not over I'd say you're safe.

Always open to that, but its shifting nicely and if there’s room for improvement even if it’s slight i’m up for it. Thank you!

How hot does your trans run normally? My 65rfe will struggle to get past 130 in the summer under normal driving so I usually fill it to between the cold and hot marks. That way if I'm towing and it gets closer to 180 there's some room for the fluid to expand. Seems to work well for me....

It’s been running pretty hot as of recent, it’s hitting 150-165 normally now. At night, it barely crests 130. And yeah; that’s what i’m worried about too.

The tranny and or engine seems to be doing something funny as to where it’ll drop into 4th, move VERY slowly (but doesn’t stop), and then upshift into 2nd and take off, and sometimes when coasting it’ll bog down really hard like i’m applying the brake, but i’m thinking this is more of the engine needing a tune up in the worst way possible (happening on monday) which hopefully will clear that up.
