So when was this supposed Golden Age of Ozzie and Harriet car dealers where every vehicle was nearly perfect and every whim of the owner was cheerfully handled by the dealer with absolute smiles and free of charge? I have seen threads like this before and i talked to my father who has owned cars for 60+ years. Throughout that time he has seen good dealers and bad dealers, cars that needed no repairs throughout their lifetime and others that needed multiple repairs in their first year of ownership. I am not convinced the car business has actually changed.
I think the only way to get this nirvana is to pony up for the super luxury brands like this one.
https://www.bugatti.com/chiron/ They are hand built and inspected multiple times to be as flawless as possible. These dealers know their customer by name. Heck we probably know their customers names. Even the smallest issue is handled immediately and without charge to the customer. Routine maintenance. They send a transporter to pickup the car, service it and return it fully detailed. Needs a part that takes a day to have flown in from the factory. The owner probably has 15 others to drive or the dealer will bring them a comparable vehicle to drive.

For the rest of us we pays our money and we takes our chances. We can try to hedge by trying to find a dealer with a good reputation or a brand less likely to need repairs. In the end, it is still the luck of the draw with mass produced commodity vehicles and their dealers.
