I am thinking of putting bigger tires on my 2000 1500 2wd. I was told on here 37" is the biggest my truck can take without mods. That being said i looked at the tire conversion chart in the exterior forum and as near as i can tell that would be 325/80R 16 = 37 X 13 X 16. What I need to know is what will that do to the speedometer acuracy and how do I compensate for it, also would there be any rubbing in the wheel wells from the extra tire width and height. I also plan on upgrading the shocks if that has any impact on the issue. My goal is to get a slightly lifted and more rugged look.

How much lift do you have. 37s will not fit stock. You will need 6" of lift to clear those baby's.

At the present time I have 100% stock as far as suspension and body lift goes. Im not planning on doing a acual lift just going after the visual effect. The shocks being upgraded is not going to be for lift pourpose but for ride/support

There's no way you'll fit a 37x13 tire. You'd be lucky to clear a 35" tire with a 2.5" level

Not sure who told you that you would be able to tuck 37"s on a stock height. But if you don't want to turn or drive it sure. But at a min you need 6" lift. Even a level won't be enough. I have 33"s with a 2.5 level and they rub at full lock. You would also nee to go with some offset rims as well to help.

Ok so it seams for the 37" tires there will be a lift project in the future correct ? That being established what needs to be swaped out to do this? obviously springs and shocks but beyond that is a mystery to me. If I decide not to do the lift then whats my options for the biggest tires without a lift ? It seams I either misunderstood about the 37"s or was given bad info lol.

Well your options without any lift is a 31 to a 33. a Level will get you a 33 mud tire or a 35 All terrain tire.

Best thing for a 6" Lift is to go and get a lift kit. We have some awesome vendors that will help you pick the right one. But usually the lift for a 2wd will be blocks in the rear and new spindles springs pitman arm and trailing arms for a basic kit I believe.

Thats discouraging news lol. The main reason I am trying to avoid a acual lift and going for the visual effect is the wife. She has some back issues that would stop her from getting in if I lifted it to much. Im not sure if a 3" bigger tire would give me the look Im after. But that being said If I do lift it, it deffinatly would not be the first time my wife gave me that look and asked WTH was I thinking lol I can allways put side steps on for her lol.

This is true. Now do keep in mine that a level kit only raises the front. If you look at my truck. I have a 2.5 level with 33" tires. Now with that said My truck is only 3" taller than stock at most. If that's a size that can be handled I would start there.

As it sits now
2.5 level with 33" 285/75/16

Hope that gives you some lift and wheel combos.
