I want to swap my gears. 3.21 to 3.92?

I would go with 4.10 also....mileage will improve in city....I did 4.56 but have 35 inch tires & 6-speed trans. Mileage improved from the 3.55 that was always lugging engine & dropping to another gear.

Hi. I have a 2014 Laramie 5.7. Is there a way to tell what gears I have? I bought it used so I don't have any of the original papers.
Thanks

Crawl underneath and look at the drivers side axle tube, there should be a sticker on the bottom side of the axle tube with the ratio listed. It'll be in small writing, and might not be legible anymore, but worth looking for it.If not any dealer can run your Vin number and tell you what gears you have. There's sites that'll also let you run your Vin number on,and they'll give you the info to,but off the top of my head I don't which one.Somebody should chime in with them soon though i'd expect.

What about the speedometer/odometer and cruise control? Will they require recalibration? Can it be done with an aftermarket tuner?

Look under "Equipment Listing" and type in your VIN to get the details.

What driveshaft issue? My 4x4 had an out of balanced driveshaft that FCA wouldn't acknowledge

The regular cab shortbox 4X4's don't use the same driveshaft as the "2wd" trucks do.The 8 speed regular cab shortbox 2 wheel drive trucks use an oddball driveshaft set-up that has a penchant for wanting to leave the trucks with 3.92 gears.

The driveshaft on regular cab shortbox 2 wheel drive trucks can & will fail catastrophically at higher speeds, beyond the governed 105mph limit. They lose balance & explode at the shaft coupling.

Not that I doubt the posters in here (ok, maybe just a little), but how on earth would a truck not need to be recalibrated after a gear swap? The speed sensors aren’t after the differential (to my knowledge, anyway), so wouldn’t swapping the gears out cause a speedometer calibration issue?

Pretty sure its on the carrier right next to the ring gear.

Think about it. How does Traction Control, Stability Control, or Brake Lock Differntial work if there is not a speed sensor at each wheel?

I went from 3.55s to 4.10s. No re-cal.

If you’re happy don’t check. Otherwise you’re going to be disappointed.

The only thing that'll throw a monkey wrench into your speedo calibration is if you change tire sizes.
