That last paragraph makes me feel like I'm on a dating website. And if the truck was stolen, and recovered, shouldn't your insurance(I'm not sure about Canadian auto insurance laws) be handling this? If you are uncomfortable with the shop the truck is at to be repaired, tell your insurance. You are their customer, and should be able to voice your concern over the quality of the shop that is making repairs.
haha, yeah. They are and were dealing with it. I wrote long winded replies elsewhere but because it was a repo it wasn't entirely stock. I did thoroughly voice my concerns and they were heard. I think I even got an adjustor fired in the process.

Op, you mentioned this is a 2022 and it's a 1500 classic which is the 4th gen body style. A DS for discussion purposes. You do not have a DT, which is a 5th gen.

For greater understanding does your truck have a hemi which is a v8 or a penstar which is a v6 or is it a diesel?

If it's a hemi v8, the under hood looks similar to photos 1, 2, & 3. If it's a penstar v6, the under hood looks similar to photos 4, 5, & 6.

In all cases the cover for the radiator and engine if you had one are made out of black plastic
omg thank you for your reply.

Sounds like the truck might of had extra aftermarket lights added,or maybe even a plow hung off the front end,or a big ole sound system at one point in time,if it had an extra piggyback fuse box attached to the top of the original fuse box. What part of Alberta are you in,as there's a few of us on here that call Berta home.I'm Airdrie based
thank you, this is very helpful. I was just really lost on what it could be and I didn't see anything loose anywhere, and the shop didn't see anything. I will assume whatever it was I don't need and was running something you mentioned. And I live outside of edmonton by Elk Island Park.

Hello from Saskatchewan,
Sorry about the truck.
But I don’t really understand what is going on.
Your insurance company should be fixing the truck or writing it off,
Seems to be what is usual for stolen vehicles.

Should not be up to you to hunt for parts, unless you bought back the salvage.
That can be a costly undertaking

Good luck

Welcome to Ram Forum, Satyrnine.

That's unfortunate to hear about your truck being stolen & stripped, hopefully, the members here can assist with whatever you have planned to get things properly restored.

As already mentioned, we need to know much more information.

Is the truck currently drivable?
Do you plan to fix it yourself or pay a private shop or dealership to complete the work?

@Wild one, or Rick, lives in Alberta. He likely has good suggestions on where to get parts and/or repairs completed.

Many of us have taken steps to reduce the likelihood of theft, ignition kill switches, aftermarket alarms, steering wheel clubs, etc.
You might want to explore those opportunities, too.

.
I was curious about kill switches. The guy I walk my dog with was telling me about doing that. So far I got a club, as my neighbour said it was enough to deter from his truck getting stolen again. Although with his it wasn't targeted, it was for riding around and doing crimes and they totaled it. I got cameras, of course. It was then egged like two weeks ago (damaging the freshly re-painted door) so I literally just parked it like one foot from my house because I am sick of **** going so damn wrong. Thankfully it was going right back to the shop to be polished and have the paint fixed from the initial theft like two days after the egg. I am also slightly straying from the ABDR cult and making my truck less desirable, hopefully, to steal. Girling it out so that people hopefully think all I do is hit curbs and cry. I don't want to put things on it but I am considering decals for my business, since I have to go to farms and whatever, and I thought matte black on the shiny black would be nice but very subtle and maybe annoying enough of a feat to take off without too much damage? I don't know. I got a signal blocking envelope for my fob. And, most importantly, I hunted down the ones who did it. I still have one guy left, but the other ones are dealt with and their boss is now my client.

@JW2 Innovations makes a plug-n-play kill switch for the trucks, they're a good addition,i've added kill switches to all my Chrysler products.

True. This has been a ****show from the beginning. I basically had to be my own adjustor and I guess autobody person. I just really have **** luck. The first time it was looked at, with me, the guy said he would do a second inspection as it was winter and it was outside and not washed off, and can't do full inspection missing parts. I suspect he did not do that. He missed a lot, seemed to only do what he and I initially went over.

So, what was taken were my tires, rims, grille, hood, battery, alternator, and whatever associated parts. They also used my own jack against me and took that. They broke the rear drivers window to get in, not sure how they started it - I assume an amplifier considering nothing was damaged in the cab and the tailgate handle was broken later, so likely they didn't re make a key or anything. I did ask one of them to tell me how they did it, but they didn't tell me. They also stole all my horse stuff? Super weird. not sure why they want halters and ropes but whatever. They did a really good job, too, and knew dodge. They knew all the places to look through everything and they were very thoughtful and thorough in taking things apart. No cut wires, nothing broken. Speaking with the tow truck guy, he picks stuff up in that spot every so often and there was a well known chop shop around it, allegedly busted, but I just found out about another so I'm probably gonna go have a visit soon.

Because it was a repo that is the reason I couldn't go off vin entirely. I had only had the truck a few months and in that time pretty much only used it to haul hay as winter was approaching, so normal driving and hay. I didn't pay a lot of attention otherwise because I just had so much on my plate at the time. I was also dealing with the return of the truck I had bought previous to this one, so I was honestly just happy to not have gotten screwed over by a dealership finally. I do wish I had taken photos of whatever was under the hood. Insurance restores a vehicle to what it was, so due to me not expecting to have my truck stolen and stripped, I neglected to make an inventory. Also I didn't notice that part was added on.

When I got my truck back the first time, I saw that they only repainted the door with the broken window and did not fix any of the scratches I had pointed out, and also that he was supposed to go over. He gave me some lame excuse of saying its normal wear and tear, but, due to having just previously purchased a truck with what I THOUGHT were scratches, but turned out to be cracked paint, I was thorough in looking at the body of this truck. It had absolutely zero damage aside from the grille and hood which both had a few matching scratches. Nothing else was wrong with it. I told him that initially but I guess he either forgot or was lazy. They did not fix the scratches on the front quarters where the dudes leaned over taking things out, they didn't fix the drivers door scratches, didnt fix a massive one on the bumper, didn't tint the replaced window when the other one was tinted, didn't align the hood correctly or even close it properly as it nearly flew up as I was driving, didn't put the bezels in the hood on correctly. When I asked him why he said its normal and that I clearly don't know anything about gaps in hoods. They also didn't replace the jack. They got the parts in and took it back and fixed it. In the meantime my adjustor checked in and was pretty upset with them for failing to do their job, and it put their contract with the company in jeopardy. So. When I returned they treated me well and fixed everything, but then we couldn't figure this missing panel out. He did order a cover for the engine, but I still think there was another one in there. It isn't there by vin, but me and my friend who was with me that day both recalled seeing it. Oh well.

Long winded reply. There was a lot of screwing me around. While I give people grace and I am patient, I do not ever back down from a fight and when I am not in the wrong but also a victim I will make sure things are done correctly. The autobody guy even apologised last time saying this isn't normally what happens with an insurance claim. But, he was going on vacation the first time, and I was mad that they took so long that I had to eventually pay for my rental out of pocket, and he realised he was waiting on parts he didn't even need so I think he rushed to get it back to me.
If it was a former repo, maybe the previous owner had a tracker in it and stole it to get his “stuff” back?

Are you dealing with a proper auto body shop, or someone working out of his barn

I don’t deal with insurance in Alberta, but that sounds like bunch of dumb asses as well.
Here you don’t get the truck back till you sign off that’s it correct.
It has been about 30 yrs since I had any work needed
Last one was a total write off and the payout was very good

Mind you it costs, and none of this silly plates with no insurance like you see other places.

Did you not have the police after these low lives?
I have no clue what fuse panel you had, a huge stereo would just have 2 or 3 extra fuses usally just in line ones.

BTW, I am a big believer in garages ,
Most of my life was in the country,
I Swift C. Now , very quite area

The daughter was posted in Edmonton years back so spent some time up there.

I installed one of Jeff's (JW2 Innovations) No-splice kill switch harnesses and am very pleased to have it. The harness is functional, well built and looks the same as most of the wiring under the dash, it doesn't stand out in the least

I also use a newer version of the club almost every time I leave my vehicle. I slack off when bringing in the groceries, but I live in the country and still have the kill switch set.

It's a real shop and some of the family are my clients, which is why I chose them, and they also happen to be the shop my insurance has a contract with. They had a reputation and I assumed it was just a bunch of karens. I was wrong. It's definitely them. But, whatever, in the end it worked out. Just frustrating to deal with, especially since I didn't do anything wrong. The police don't do anything. They were all aware when I gave names on who I thought it was, but, if a person is caught in a stolen vehicle, it proves nothing except that they were in possession of a stolen vehicle. And even though anyone could catch them on camera, it's not admissible in court, so there's no point. I believe what they do instead is add up all the crimes for a while and then make a bigger bust. They seem to enjoy going after chop shops. That's why I just went and dealt with it myself, and will continue to. In my experience, most people back down immediately from confrontation because they don't expect it, especially from a girl, and, honestly, they're ******* drug addicts. They're more afraid of me than I would ever be of them. One guy was too afraid to even look at me and would not get out of his vehicle until I was walking away. He got out and he was like twice my size. Idk. It isn't even like I'm mad anymore, I just want an apology and for them to teach me how they started my truck. And maybe give me an inventory list. Maybe I will suggest to them that they start leaving one in these situations because that would be helpful.

I don't have a garage and I rent, so I can't get one. Edmonton is alright but I am not a city person. I'd prefer to have no one near me but an acreage is waayy too much work alone, and I already have too much to do.

nah, he took whatever he wanted. would be very odd to steal stock items for no reason. It also would have made sense to do it on a warm night, not -20 with insane wind making massive drifts. one of the dealerships mentioned there could be a tracker in it but it's too much work to take out, so they just disable them. Would be nice to re-enable it for myself. I did put a tracker in it, but it relies on pinging off of phones.

well you aren't missing much. just farmers and wildfires. I only ended up here because I needed to leave where I was previously living, and found anywhere in Alberta I could afford to rent a house and have dogs. Ended up here. Not bad, since my business does quite well, but I didn't intend to stay so long. This is the longest I have lived anywhere. 7 years now.

@Satyrnine When you get to a point where you need a kill switch you can PM me here or email at [email protected] if you have any questions or additional ideas on how to help keep your truck from being stolen again. Tons of good ideas already shared here and layering different approaches like a club, kill switch, where you park, etc are all great ways to add layers to your overall solution. It's sad we all have to think about keeping our vehicles where we park them to the degree we do, but unfortunately that is the world we live in.

A couple ways thieves are taking vehicles is either relaying your FOB signal if you keep it close enough to a window or door without a faraday pouch/box, or break the window (I think you mentioned this for this case) and tap into your OBD2 port and add a FOB to your vehicle with a device they bring with them in addition to a new FOB they also bring that will work with your vehicle making the vehicle think this newly added FOB is from the owner. Then just drive it away. There's options to help here as well I'd be glad to share with when you're at that point.
