.... The truck currently has version 13.51.11 I see the newest version out is 17. I went to the u connect website and put my vin # in and it's saying that my software is up to date. I spoke to a jeepcares person on a different fourm and this is what they told me.
"Software updates are not universal, and therefore not all 2014s will have the same software level. It can vary depending on your specific vehicle. As previously stated, your Ram is currently up to date".
Here's the info on the truck
VIN #
43,000 miles on the truck
2014 with a build date of 3/14
8.4 screen with navigation
current firmware version 13.51.11
Truck was built in the US and sold in Canada. Came back into the US and resold here. I attached pictures of the radio part # and software# I looked at page 1 of this thread and it looks like the part number of the radio doesn't match any listed. Am I out of luck? Do you have a version that will work with my radio? Please help!!
Please edit out your vin from your post.
Ramcares / Jeepcares is somewhat accurate....
- the sw updates are specific to the model year of the truck, and model/country of the radio (PN of the radio tied to the vin).
> RA3 VP3-NA (8.4 no nav, USA)
> RA4 VP4-NA (8.4 Nav, USA)
> RA3 VP3-CA (8.4 no nav, Canada)
> RA4 VP4-CA (8.4 Nav, Canada)
- Once someone uses the VIN to download an update, that vin is removed from the system and FCA assumes the vehicle is up to date.... Not always correct & a poor practice imo (corrupt downloads, etc could affect this & require a another D/L).
- 17.43.x is the latest for all 13-17 8.4 radios but as you guessed I don't have it for a Canadian RA4 VP4-CA.
Q: does your truck have a sharkfin or flat puck antenna on the roof?
You have a few options for your RA4 VP4-CA radio (68224537Ax):
- Call the uconnect update support site and ask them to reset your vin so you can get the update downloaded... Tell them it's your truck and someone must have used the vin but didn't actually update the radio.
- locate a 2014 Canadian vin from a Bighorn trim or higher (Laramie most likely) that came with the 8.4 RA4 VP4-CA radio and use it to download an update... If someone else hasn't already
- Go to the dealer and have them do it. If they are a good one with knowledgeable tech, they can get the file. You can even give them a USB drive to put it on. Show them the 2014 tsb if needed as it may help.
- leave it as is.
