Inherent Fuel Sensor Issues?

Wow, 30,000mi 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab 4X4 Hemi. Filled it up today and all of a sudden the engine light comes on, fuel gauge crashes, and the fuel nozzle indicator light comes on as if the truck has run out of fuel. No sputter, truck ran fine. What gives; inherent problems I see?

the part of the fuel sending unit(fuel pump) that senses the fuel level probably went bad.
