What make is your push bar? Did you lose your front hooks? How do you like it?
It’s a Randy Ellis. It mounts by removing the hooks and bolts behind them. I like it so far. Well made. Overpriced.

Your post is a bit deceiving. You get to put the hooks back on before bolting it up.

Those 37's look really nice. Perfect size for your truck IMO. I thought about 37's on mine but I went with 35's because I have an EcoDiesel. Was co cerned to lose too much hp and torque. 20181130_172027.jpg 20181130_172310.jpg 20181130_171402.jpg

Reuben, after reading this morning about another car plunging off of Red Mountain Pass, I really think that it was a excellent decision that you made the tire switch to what you are confident with.

As you already know, like any non-studded tire, the KO2 tires aren't invincible on ice. I installed a brand new set of KO2 tires on a Jeep during the winter of 2016. Not having the 4 wheel drive engaged though my daughter while driving it hit a stretch of black ice at a too high rate of a speed, spun, and totalled it into a tree outside of Gunnison. Studded dedicated winter tires is what she drives on now in Wyoming and it's what I switch over to each season on my wife's car.

Too far of a drop off on the road over the top of the Grand Mesa (approx.11,000 feet) here to lose any control. No guardrails on one long stretch of a shelf road on our Colorado Highway 65 for the snow removal which is not far from my home. It's just pushed over the cliff as is also done on Red Mountain Pass. My wife and I will drive far around both Red Mountain and the Grand Mesa when the winter conditions like today are really bad.

That is one Nasty Drop. Good choice to take a different path. Very nice scenery tho.

A bit OT, but Magnesium Chloride is salt also. Even calcium , potassium, sodium and other chlorides. Road salt is more stuff mixed together.

Yes sir. I wash my vehicles about once a week. Even in bad weather to try and keep the mag off them. It’s almost as bad as salt. Especially to, like you said, wheels and wiring. I think I would just rather them use salt. It sure cleans the roads off better.

I really love that area. When we run Engineer Pass we catch it right past that pic at the Mineral creek side. That can be a nasty little area right there coming into or leaving Ouray in the winter. The hundreds of times we have traveled that, and as we get used to driving it, I still and always will respect it. Icy roads pulling doubles pups with a single axle. I completely understand and take precautions.

Do you have plans to drive off our roads that don't have guard rails? I believe that you are required to stay on the designated highway in this area. LOL!

Attached is a video of Imogene Pass being plowed clear of snow.

Back on topic...
So what's in between a 35" and a 37" tire? I was driving my son's 2014 Ram 2500 (same body style as my Power Wagon) with a 2" leveling kit for two weeks last month on the stock 18" by 8" width wheels with a set of 35" Toyo A/T's. He complained that with my 17" Power Wagon wheels I have a lot more tire choices. Toyo makes a 36" 315 70R18 M/T that fits his stock 8" wide wheel, whereas, we don't have a 36" tire choice with the stock 17". A 36" tire might have less rubbing than a 37" on the Ram 2500. Just a thought.

With how I operate, knowing that these 37’s will rub at full lock, I would re-learn the turning radius and try to stay away from the rubbing. It just wouldn’t make me feel right. The rubbing and all. In my mind it translates to wearing on the tire and whatever they are rubbing on. Not too mention, I don’t want to lose any more turning radius. I’m curious how these tires actually workout in this area. Don’t get me wrong, I love how they look. I don’t enjoy the “small” look of the stock tires on our PW’s but I understand and enjoy the reasoning behind it. I’m sitting at 42,000 miles on the stock tires and their performance is showing that mileage. It’s almost time for a new pair.

Well, they really only rub at full lock to the right. I’ve gotten used to holding it back a bit. It’s really not hurting the tire or sway bar. I’m going to just weld a little washer or nut on the steering stop that will keep it back about 1/4 “ because that about all it needs. I won’t really notice the change. So far this has been the best change yet. These tires are so smooth and silent. I would say the power is ever so slightly blunted but not annoyingly so. It’s a really big truck and the tires seem to have made it just “fit”.

What a difference these made in the snow and ice. They rub at full lock on the drivers side part of the sway bar. Here is a pic. Sorry about the quality. It’s so nasty and cold. My truck isn’t going to be clean for a while. Another pic added with mounted height.

I think the ko2 is a great tire in traction and ride but it doesnt last log enough in the wear deparment in my book. Ive gotten 25k miles on two different sets.

I think the main issue with them is they start out brand new at 15/32nds tread. My falken wildpeaks will be part worn out when they get to that depth.
