I agree completely, my gridlines issue , I'm convinced it's an out of.box failur.with the camera itself ...

Update , the new XAC Flash did not work , they also said they reconfigured the BCM , Not sure what that means but that did not help either , I know before they took the truck in they said the flash would be free , but if they reconfigure the BCM it would be $99.00 , they didn't charge me though , wrote it up as some kind of warranty deal...
I found out today a.buddy of mines son just bought a new Ram and he has a back up camera, and tomorrow he's letting me use his camera to see if I get lines !
He has lines in his mirror display , I can't wait !

I have involvement in another thread titled something like Uconnect 5.0 software update.

I just heard for the first time if you upgraded your radio from the RA1 3.0 TO the RA2 5.0 ( like i have ) there is a sales code Flash required ? ?
Has anyone heard of this ?
Maybe this is my issue not having active grid lines ?
I wouldn't think so , because the RA1 equipped trucks with the backup cams displays on the mirror with active grid lines. ..?

Also if the flash is done will I have more EVIC options in my RA2 5.0 ?

Yep, no option for grid lines in my radio. Not sure what Sw version im on or how to tell. I do know there is a Sw update for me though.View attachment 54581

Perhaps you can reload the radio Sw via USB drive from the Uconnect site, or the camera is bad ( maybe they can pull one out of another truck if they can't pull from parts).
Your not the first person I have seen this happen to, but no one bothered to chase it since they had video.
@ Mpgrimm2 did you upgrade to the RA2 from the the RA1 ? If so did you get an RA2 sales code Flash ? If you did did you have extra EVIC options in your Radio ?

No. My SLT came with the RA2 & the 7" (or 8"?) EVIC.

Nope. But maybe Cptwing will comment or someone that made the RA2 upgrade.

I'm watching the other thread too.
Swap Ra2 Radios?
Do you have the TechAuthority link for schematics?
Hate to end up at the dealer to figure it out. You sure all the pins are seated and in the correct locations.

Not required. You can't get the sales code for the RA2 flashed without knowing the right people just a heads up.

Glad your watching ! I haven't swapped radios yet , I plan on it if I can find someone willing , hell it would only take 10 mins ..

I do have the tech authority link ( on my phone only I can't figure out how to follow forward of the BCM ? To see how the clockspring is involved and ultimately how that signal gets back to the camera so it can be displayed on the radio . I have crystal clear video image on my RA2 , Therfore I belive the radio is fine ... I'm thinking the signal from linbusCB3 from the BCM @OR/DKB wire socket 45 is not connected to the clockspring. I have verified continuity from the DISCONNECTED C-5 connector socket #45 (the BCM side) all the way to socket #2 of the camera's plug. Per tech authority's diagram of the Lin Bus for the backup.camera system.

The resistance read 2.3 ohms which I now think is high even though I'm ringing through 2ea connectors and my solder splice .
As a comparison of a good resistance reading I connected 3ea 100' extension cords together ( 2 connections & 300 feet of 12ga wire) rang .5 ohms only .

I have verified all wires are in the correct spot ; however , now I'm thinking not a proper seating or fit of pins and sockets on the Lin Bus signal or a.cold solder @ my splice. Or a diconnected signal between the BCM s backup cam linbus and the clockspring ?

LOL ! I have no intentions to go to the dealer , unless it's between the BCM and clockspring ( that should be warranty

For anyone's info : I've recently upgraded to the RA2 from the RA1 , installed another steering wheel with audio controls & VR/phone button , a factory mirror with microphones and header harness .
The backup cam kit is the OEM Tailgate camera kit aquired from my dealer .
Important to note all of my added on parts are real OEM Parts and everything I've been able to troubleshoot and verify has reflected exactly what tech authority has on my vin# by color and connector location .

Check to make sure none of your harness is melted near the cats

I kept everything well away from all exhaust components, and wrapped heat tape on about an 18" area under the cab where space was most constricted , and my issue has been from day one , I did drive around a couple days prior to the flash though ! I'll definitely check for burnt or damaged wire on the main body harness , something is causing an elevated resistance ...
Do you happen know the circuitry of the clockspring in the backup cam system?

@ RLK,
I dug around on TechAuthority for anything that might be related to the steering wheel position sensing/clockspring. I keep coming across a "steering control module" that I am not sure yet where it is actually located unless it just refers to the whole steering wheel. I can't verify the actual "clockspring" connector reference but I may dig some more when I get the chance. Once I ID the clockspring connector, I can click the connector diagram and find all the wires/signals going through it.

In the mean time, I have a folder of possible related schematics/PDF's that may help you since you don't have a PC (only cell phone). I also threw in the Upfitters References for extra relays you may be able to use to run your LED bed lights.

Anyone else that may have an idea what to check for the missing backup camera grid lines feel free to poke around.

Definitely keep us informed ! Do you know the P/N on your camera mounted in the tailgate handle ?
Mine is 56038978AH . I'd like to know yours , I found out today there are lots of these cameras on the shelf @ chrysler; however, they will not release them and this camera is due to be replaced by P/N same AI & same AJ , and these two new cameras 2300 on back order are not available for purchase yet ? couldn't find out why these are being held , but I'm hoping it's due to some sort of defect ...

*Update* Left truck at dealership. They say it is a bad camera. I assuming the miswired connection probably burned the camera. The said they will do a claim with Mopar to get it replaced. I assume under warranty but I am am sure. They want to know were I bought it from. I got t original kit OEM from a dealer off of Ebay. Will this affect Me?

Not sure , since you did not purchase from a dealer site ? If your certin it's the camera you need I just got a brand new one in original package off Amazon that I don't need ! I'll sale it to ya for $100.00 shipped . Pretty sure the one at the dealer will set you back about $185.00 + plus tax , if they won't warranty it .
If your interested in my new camera shoot me a P.M.

@ Mpgrimm2 & Cuyler Tech
I've checked again the Lin Bus CBC 3 cicuit from the BCM all the way to the camera , disassembled connectors inspected for proper crimps on pins and sockets and for any damage , none found . No burnt areas due to exhaust heat found .
This weekend if I have time I'm gonna temporarily install a solid wire NO disconnects from the orange / dk blue socket 45 @C-5 connector on BCM to the tiny light blue wire @ the camera's socket # 2 , if i have the Active grid lines then I'll run it for real in my harness with no disconnects .
If I still do not have the Active grid lines then I believe I can assume my issue is between the BCM AND THE CLOCKSPRING? ?
What say you ??

Definitely running out of things to check.

It would be nice if we knew what the Lin Bus CBC 3 signal was, a 12v high/low or some sort of serial communication signal.
Any Ram Techs watching this?
