Originally had the RA1 radio, I purchased the 82314240 tailgate camera thinking it would work just fine since I was switching to a Pioneer headunit and didn't want the mirror back up camera. Had the code added prior to finishing up the wiring while I was having a oil change done. Should this work? A quick installation of the aftermarket deck with Maestro seems that it doesn't work do I need to wire it a different way or should I have the dealer verify the code is still on there.

Sorry for the delay and lack of response, I personally have been super busy lately and haven't kept up very well on many of the threads that I try to monitor. That being said, what you are trying to do isn't quite within the realm of this thread and would likely be better suited to a new one, but I will see if I can answer your question, but I don't really have all the info on your setup (I'm not very familiar with the Maestro and its hook ups) ...

The add-on backup kit you purchased is intended to be inserted into the OEM Radio's 52 pin connector at Pins 31,31 & 33 (Signal, Signal Rtn, shield) plus the power connections at the PDC and GridLine control signal at the BCM. This "wiring Only" install with the factory radios will not enable the camera to turn on in reverse UNTIL the dealer activates the XAC sales code.

The catch with your aftermarket setup is that you need to ensure that your maestro or some other interface module (ie PAC, Crux, etc) between the factory radio connector and new radio has an RCA Video Breakout Cable/harness adapter to convert the factory wiring to a plug that works with your aftermarket radio. What hardware you have to do this with I can only guess and would not be familiar with and would start by researching it and downloading the manuals.
EDIT: A quick search indicates a Maestro RR-CHR03-DS interface with HRN-RR-CH3 Chrysler harness would be required.

If you had an RA2 radio, I would tell you to reinstall it and verify you get a backup cam display or blue Screen on the radio while in reverse to eliminate some things and verify the XAC code is active but that won't work for your situation (more than one dealer has said it was done when it wasn't).

You really should start a separate thread, list the hardware/PNs/models you have and I'm fairly certain some of the guys who have already done this with a maestro and the factory camera can tell you what you are overlooking.

Updated post 51 with the 3 video/camera inputs before and after the v17.x sw update and a link to 762-mm's thread about switching the cargo and bu camera inputs messed up after the v17 update.

So , today I was on top of Holston Mountain in NE TENNESSEE , about 30 miles from my house , it was a chilly +1°f ....I put the truck in Reverse and this is what I got on my back up camera .

I checked the lense , it was clean and no visible signs of moisture .

Once I drove home and backed into my garage with a +20°f temp , it was perfectly normal .

It seems that extream cold temps may effect the backup cam ???

For anyone that doesn't know my truck was an RA1 Original , I've upgraded to the RA2 and then ultimately what you see in the photo above , the RA4NA and I also installed the factory back up camera system myself ...

I posted this to either let folks know that temps may effect the camera , or to learn myself that others do not have issues with the back up cam with colder temps [emoji106][emoji106][emoji848][emoji848]

I was planning on buying this and installing myself for my 5.0. Question is that I'm eventually going to upgrade to either an 8.4 or Aftermarket (probably more likely so I can get android or carplay). I know it will plug into the 8.4.

However since I haven't decided on radio would I better off to wait until I decide? I know from reading you can splice the OEM camera into an aftermarket deck. But sounds like a little bit of a hassle. Would it be worth doing now and then splicing in assuming I go aftermarket or better to just get an aftermarket camera to go with aftermarket deck if that's the route I go?

Imo you are better off doing it early to make sure it works correctly and not deal with potentially multiple troubleshooting issues. If you go with an 8.4 upgrade/conversion, then you already have it ready to go.

If you go with an aftermarket radio, there are adapter harnesses/interface modules with the correct wires/break out cables so that not modification to factory harness is required. (Ie Crux, PAC, etc. Crutchfield would be a good source as well as other members who have done it already).

That is kind of how I was leaning. I'm going wheels tires before new radio so it may be a bit anyways and I can figure it out later as far as how to get it to work assuming I go aftermarket

This may have already been covered, so forgive me if so. The aftermarket radio I’m looking at requires an rca input for the rear backup camera. Does anyone make an adapter harness or something to convert the stock backup camera to an rca to plug into an aftermarket radio?

Crux, PAC, and NavTv make an aftermarket Radio interface module I believe with everyone you'd need

Thanks for the info. I guess I’d just look for the module for my model year truck?

Not sure if this is the right one but might be ...
CRUX SWRCR59D

See this link...

Edit: I forgot to mention iDataLink 'Maestro' interface and the various compatible radios the list. <--- usually your best solution from a functionality stand point.

Here is the radio I’m wanting to go with. A gamble I’m well aware. I’ve already found how to get the usb in the console to work with it. But I can’t figure out how I would need to wire in the backup camera for it to work.

https://www.seicane.com/2013-2014-2...th-mirror-link-dvr-rearview-camera-tv-s09286q

If I could get the backup camera to work, I’d only be losing Sirius, but I’d gain navigation and a CD player which id like to have cause I’m old like that. According to their website you can “splice” in an rca, but who knows.

Edit: And as expected, while polite and claiming it’s possible, the Seicane customer service has no idea how to hook it up through the radio.

Have you checked out any of the Kenwood or Pioneer decks? Generally you take a gamble with those non mainstream China deck and usually end up with bad quality especially for that price. I understand it does have nav if u can do without and have a smartphone you can just use android or car play and use the map off your phone to give you navigation would work better then there nav. You’ll also have idatalink which is a awesome feature depending on the headunit.
