I have the K&N intake. I'm pleased with the performance from it and it only cost $220. Just changed my flowmaster 40 series muffler to a true dual flowmaster super 10 set up with an x pipe and 5'' tips. Not sure if your looking for that kinda change, but it is the best exhaust sound i have ever heard on a truck IMO. It sound mean!

Is it a big difference from the 40 to the ten I'm running a 44 and have been thinking about going to the 10

Magnaflow all the way!!! Use to be a Flowmaster guy until I bought my Ram. Great agressive sound without being overpowering.

I'm thinking of switching to the flowmaster super 44 from my 14" Magnaflow, any thoughts? I was contemplating the Borla XR1(#40085) w/ y-pipe but it's too close sounding to the Magnaflow.

I'm not sure how the flowmaster super 44 sounds. Its hard to tell from youtube when i was researching different mufflers. I was a little bit scared to get the super 10 series due to the clacking sound that they can give off, but i think with the x pipe and 5'' tips, it turned out to be exactly what i was looking for... A deep rumble with the flowmaster sound!

I did the Magnaflow 24" with the res off and love it, I haven't done the intake yet.

Yeah same here I started with the 50 and then I went to the 44 I think that's pretty close to the 40 but it's still not loud enough for me. I'm working on putting headers on right now and possibly the fm 10 soon

It depends what your looking for. Me, I wanted an aggressive sound that wasn't overpowering. The Flowmaster sound is well known as bad ass, and most of all loud. I have a 1 year old and a ton of cops in my neighborhood. I kinda wanted to keep my sound quiet for my son and to not attract too much attention. It's all personal preference. I found the performance and sound of the Magnaflow to really fit the truck. Couldn't be happier.

Couldn't agree with you more. It all comes down to what you want personally. And yes flowmaster is known for there Aggressive tone. As long as your happy with it that's all that matters

What exactly is an x pipe? and does flow master sell a super 10 kit? I wouldn't mind having a loud and aggressive sound but im scared of how it might sound when its in 4cyl mode

I had a fm 10 on my last truck, and it is loud, but sounds great. The crackling/popping you hear in YouTube vids weren't there on my truck so I think it's just sound distortion. And it sounds amazing while downshifting

I'm not a fan of open desing CAIs like K&N, AFE or AIRAID. The do not seal well and tend to become heat saturated. They also make a lot of throttle noise under the hood.
I want my exhaust to sound good not have the sound of a Hoover under the hood.

For exhaust. I like the mufflex for DIY install: A Magnaflow straight flow muffler in 14, 18 or 24" and prefab stainless piping for direct replacement of the OEM beast.

If you want to make a lot of noise, get an electronic cut out so you can make noise when its fun and appropriate and not be "that guy" in your neighborhood where you're likely to get keyed for disturbing the peace.
