So Im wanting to get a after market throttle body and I'm pretty much set on a ported style of the 85mm size but my oldest bro asked me "what about the BBK 90mm?" So my question is, are the larger ones better and does the porting make the 85mm better than the larger ones? Im looking to gain throttle response most of all.

Your thoughts?

When it comes to throttle bodies, bigger isnt always better. I wouldnt recommend a 90mm TB unless you are running boost or a heavy shot of nitrous. That extra throttle response you gain from a properly ported TB is from the increased airflow and more importantly, increased airspeed. If you go from a 3.5" intake tube, to a TB that has a larger diameter, then the airspeed going into your motor is actually slower than it was stock. So unless you have major supporting mods to work with that extra airflow, you will actually lose a little throttle response with that big of a TB.

And that's the main reason I joined this forum!! Thanks again Hemi450hp

Yep Matt has ya pointed in the right direction. For that size your gonna wanna be boosted and even then the truck maifold wouldnt show the best gains. To give you an idea this is a built Indy intake with built fuel rails injector setup with an Arrington 90 mm tb that is on out 426 stroker 88mm turbo SRT Jeep and it flows correct for all that extra displacement and boost.

I sere you go t a good answer... a good ROT for "regular guys" like me (as opposed to the guys who were born brilliant about these sort of things) is that you always want to make sure the engine's moving air evenly through the engine and consider that sometimes one mod just isn't enough!

Good luck and enjoy!

Sorry for the ignorance but what does ROT mean?
