Hey, as the title says I'm trying to see if there is a way to enable eco for longer periods of time. I find when I'm on the highway driving without pulling a load it keeps coming on and off. I feel when I'm on the highway and not hauling there is no need to waste the gas and I'd like to keep it on. I don't care if it takes longer to speed up. I'm thinking there prob isn't but just in case I thought I'd ask. I bought this truck used at 82k miles. 2011 Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L Hemi.

Thanks!

No you cannot control the ECO mode to keep ot on at all times. It will automatically turn on and off depending on how much of a load is on your engine and your driving habits. It will automatically shut down cylinders when the load is low and re-engage them when the demand is more.

Eco mode and mds are 2 different things. I have mds off and the eco light still comes on.

If you are driving on a hilly freeway it's gonna kick on and off. If it's flat is should stay on. As long as I keep it under 80 and it's flat I can keep the eco light on

Bummer. It would be nice to be able to leave it going. I live near the beaches on the east coast....pretty flat. Still kicks on and off a bunch. Thanks for the response guys!

Eco is not a mode where you press a button and it turns it on and off. It's only a result of driving in an economical manner. If you want the Eco to stay on longer, then drive in an economical manner more often.

Depends mostly on wind resistance. In the imaginary physics world without friction the fuel to maintain 90 mph, 70 mph, and 35 mph is the same. On the road with say 15 mph head wind going 70 mph feels like 85 to the truck. MDS won't happen unless you go down hill, let off the gas, or have a freak truck. However the same speed tail wind and it's more like you're going 55 mph from a fuel consumption perspective. Or go 85 and it will feel like 70...
