I just picked up some wheels and tires to "upgrade" my current stock setup.
I'm concerned because I didn't realize until I got home that there are some cracks in the sidewall. There is plenty of tread left, more so than my tires.
I got the set for $400, and I think the wheels are worth that. But I like the tires. I just don't want a catastrophic blow out. What's your guys opinions? And money is definitely a factor. If I can't run these I'll have to list them back on craigslist, as I can't afford a tire replacement. I'd like to eventually get some tires from treadwright.com when I do. Well, but not if I'm going to run into this problem again.
I don't know if dude even knew it was there. He was driving on them until he just put a lift and 37's on his truck, he said.
Here is an example of some of the worst looking type of crack. And the wheels.
