I brought my 2014 Sport in for an oil change and recalls. Been here looking at trucks for two hours and just can’t make myself even test drive one. They just don’t jump out at me.

^^^^. Don’t worry it will be just fine. As an owner of one I definitely say it took some getting used to. But again when I first purchased my 4th that was the same way after having my 3rd gen. :)

hey everyone.
new here and thought i would comment on the restyled 1500.
i went looking for a 2019 1500 and looked at both the new style and the classic and bought the classic.

Did the dealer have that one, or did you order it? I liked that color when they came out as a Special Edition a couple of years ago. Very nice color.

I agree the new chevy's are completely hideous, I don't think the rams are THAT bad but I do prefer the exterior look of the 4th's still, and the interior is obviously better on the new 5th gens.
My sentiments exactly.

I'm coming from the Ford camp (18 years of Ford trucks) and the new trucks are, for the most part, uninspiring to look at. The 4th Gen does look more muscular but, for me, the 2019 updates were more than enough for me to pull the trigger on one.

I had a 4th Gen as a loaner for 2 days while mine was in for some minor warranty work and I could not get comfortable no matter how I adjusted things. I'm more than happy to trade curb appeal for some updated aerodynamics and my posh 5th Gen cab.

Just out of curiosity, what trim was the 4th gen you had for a loaner? I just had an f-150 loaner but it was a base xl and I kind of felt the same thing with comfort, but I'm sure some of their higher trim levels are more comfortable. My 3 rams I had were sports and now a longhorn and I've found them to be pretty comfortable on long hauls.

Also congratulations on your 5th gen!

The Longhorn grill is nothing but chrome bars with 'RAM' in the middle. GMC would look eqaully at home in the middle of it. The Limited at least has a little more style to it, although I hate the squinty lights. The bigger lights of the Big Horn and Laramie fill in that area better. Even they still have a big blank area beneath them.
The front of these new Rams isn't going to win any design awards. It needs a redo, just the same as the new Chevy does.

Just won truck of the year by Motor Trend Mag.

Basically won the special olympics by still having to bribe the judges...

I wonder how the Rebel grill and plastics will hold up over time. Some of the black on my 14 has turned almost white, like around the antenna.

ya-the plastic around my antenna is really faded-i tried maguires ultimate black on it and it looked great for a week-now it is a light grey. Dont know if it was from the cream or not. Didnt want to try it on any other places. Anyone else use the Maguires ultimate black?

As for the new styling-I was surprised that RAM would change the grill from their iconic crosshairs-I could always see from a distance that it was a RAM.. Chevy did the same thing with the corvette tail lights that was a trademark for decades. I wont be surprised if RAM brings back the cross-hair grill- then the new one will become rare and somewhat collectable. Maybe. I have a nice 2016 limited cross hair grill hanging in my living room- nicer to look at than a silly painting!!

I like the Delmonico red truck that was posted here also. I was really looking at that color but didn't see one in a sport trim. Looks really sharp. How is that bug shield working out? I am thinking of getting one but am worried it would be hard to clean between it and the hood.
that's what made me commit to buying it was the sport package. the bug deflector works fine I had the same kind of bug deflector on my 2016 you can run a towel between the cover and the hood to dry it off after washing the truck.

Whatever floats your boat and makes you happy. I personally love my 5th gen and think it looks pretty bad ass! Hopefully you all think the same of your own truck!

Potentially the best post of the thread. It's all about doing what works for you. Just enjoy your ride, whether it's a 2nd Gen or a 5th Gen... Heck, some people even enjoy Chevrolet. To each their own, right?

I also enjoy my 5th Gen, just like I enjoyed my previous Rams.

Beautiful truck, always wondered what my truck would look like if it was lifted. How many inches?

I just bought it already lifted with 2500 miles. I was told it was a 4" lift on air suspension. That pick was taken with them all the way up. Unfortunately, I started a two week hitch at work right after I bought it, so I have to wait until I get back to dig in to the details.

Exactly! The world would get boring if we all liked the same stuff. Nice truck man! Hope you get back soon to enjoy it.

It was an Express. Granted it's a glorified Tradesman but cloth seats are cloth seats. The relative dimensions to everything were not comfortable for my 6' 2" frame as they are in my cab (cloth seats also).

Since I'm not a "RAM guy" the 5th Gen isn't as offensive to me. I still like the styling and I love the updates (Apple CarPlay, LED lights, bigger crew cab, etc.).

As CincyZac said, it all boils down to what floats your boat and makes you happy.
