Yea. I was give and take on getting an upgraded media system. As long as it had the upgraded Alpine speakers, I can get by for awhile while I plan out upgrades, and trust me, there will be many upgrades to the audio of this truck. The alpine system is "ok" for a factory system, but I'm an audiophile and expect oh so much more. I mean, hell, I had just a little over 3000 watts of power running in my 97. Kinda glad I don't have the factory navigation either. That system is a complete PITA to use in my eyes. Not sure if they made some firmware changes between 2009 and 2010, but in the 09s, any changes to the route of travel usually had to be done by completing a key cycle. For $1,200 extra, the system can be so much better in my eyes.

get ready to have some fun. I had that exact same setup I had in the truck. The wiring on it is a pain in the ASS! I had all the wiring diagrams and still jacked stuff up.

They wouldn't let you take it home? We always take the new and old car for at least a week so we can swap hand controls. It's never been an issue.

Couple problems - 1, I didn't have a place for the truck.......2, I was the only one there when I bought it (and bought the van at the same time), so I can only drive one vehicle home. 3, I knew if I brought it home............I wouldn't do **** to my truck that needed to be done. 4, They had to remove some parts from it that I didn't want, so I had to leave it with them to do it. They didn't have them removed by the time I went back that night to get the van (with the wife).

I was ok with them keeping it......had to get their stuff cared for, and I had to get my crap removed to get it all done too.

I'm hoping it will be a simple run new wires type of deal. Only thing that really concerns me is the steering wheel controls and how they interface.

well........how much are you getting rid of? There are 10 speakers in that setup (4 doors, 3 in the dash, 2 in the headliner and the sub). From what I remember - which isn't much........the doors are not amped. The sub is a DVC, so it has 4 wires coming from the amp (which is behind the parking brake), but I believe the other 5 speakers are amped.

As for the steering wheel controls - PAC makes an interface for that. Works GREAT!

The four in the door will go. Looking very much hard at Hertz for those. The three on the dash, I dunno just yet. Never really got into adding tweeters, but those might be a good place for them. As for the ceiling, I'll leave those alone. They sound like too much hassle. Especially if the liner has to be dropped.... I have the side curtain air bags, so that could get tricky real quick fast and in a hurry.

The sub will also go. Only thing I'm not fond of with these rams is how you are limited to where you can hide a couple of woofers.

yeah, I plan on doing the doors at some point here........sometime.

I did the sub already - in a foxbox under the pass rear. Works for me! :)

Yea, I dunno. I've gotten more into the clarity and loudness game than I have makeum big boom.

Have you replaced the deck yet? That's where the idea of running new wires is coming from rather than dealing with a complete mess of wires. Only thing I would have to really get worried about is routing RCAs.

You'll regret that. :D

I think I got a buddy of mine that might want a set of projector lens if you're game. Not sure I would want to hack someone elses housings up like that. lol

I'm game. :D

My email is in my sig - have him shoot me an email with what he has in mind (what kind of vehicle, if he just wants a straight retro or paint involved, etc) - and I'll get back with him!

I'm really itchin' to do another set of 4th gens............I want to see if the projectors will fit in the high beams too, and I am thinking of making my own clear reflectors for them too. And.......maybe some LEDs inside. Who knows, sky's the limit! :D
