Hey everyone,

So I'm getting a warning message on my 2015 Ram that indicates one of my headlights is out.

Interesting thing is - it's not actually burned out. I bought the truck with LED low beams in projectors and I've had zero issues with them, but now, the last little bit I'm getting this message that pops up when I start the truck but in fact, it isn't burned out.

I don't have any background info on the headlights if the person before me used AlfaOBD to switch out the type of lights - the bulbs are simply a plug and play with no additional hardware other than the bulb and pigtail ends.

Not sure what it could be - should I just pull the battery terminal and "reset" everything to see if it clears the message?

Metra makes these, find out what bulb is in there, this should plug in between factory harness and bulb. They make several variations.

They were working fine before so I suspect it's not the harness I'll need. One bulb still works fine, well actually both bulbs work fine, it's just a light out message I'm getting on one side and those harnesses weren't needed before - but I'll keep that in mind - thanks.

It's possible that there is a canbus adapter already installed or the led's bulbs are canbus compatible but the canbus adapter/compatibility has failed. Not uncommon for a adapter to fail kinda rare for the compatibility aspect to fail before a led chip. So the adapters listed could solve your issue. 2015 is not a good year for led's. FCA did something or increased the sensitivity to the canbus system that made led's hard to get working correctly.

yup, and those above keep from the "bulb out" code

So where would I check for this adapter. I also have LED's for fogs. I've taken the headlight out and honestly there is no adapter in the headlight or anything - I removed the dustcover in the past and its just the bulb tucked in there - but I'll have to take it out again and double check just to be sure.

I'll have to check my fogs too and see if in fact there is an adapter there for them.

If you don't see a random box in between the truck's harness and the headlight housing then it would be inside the housing. If you only see one box attached to the led headlights then the canbus adapter is built into the led driver. If you can find out what brand they are. Also another common way to get rid of the errors is to use resistors. They could be gold or blue. They'd be mounted outside of the headlight housing because they get hot.

Could AlfaOBD over ride the need for the box. I played around with the demo version and I noticed there was an setting to say they were LED lights. Just not familiar with leds.

Maybe would be a good time to switch to hids. I was wanting something brighter for the back roads.

Yes alfaobd would fix your issues. The first post in the alfaobd thread has everything you need to know.

I am just starting to have this same issue. I’ve been getting error code that says my parking light is out. It’s not. All lights work, no flickers.
I recently converted my stock quad headlights to projectors. I have the resistors added as well. When I had quad headlights, I changed a setting in alfaobd to change my DRL’s to the turn signal bulbs, originally the DRL’s were high beams at half power. I thought it was badass to have the turn signal DRL’s. When I changed to projectors. I never changed that setting back, I just hooked up the projectors with resistors and they worked fine. A few weeks ago they stayed to show an error code.
Does anyone have a solution?

Chances are that one of the resistors is bad. Since you have alfaobd. Under body Control, car configuration, scroll down until you see CBC FEATURES-LED Front park, turn and enable those. Then turn the truck off for a minute, reconnect alfaobd, connect to the bcm, select the battery icon and read system id. And verify that the settings took. You may have to use each turn signal for about 20 seconds and the 4 ways after. This seems to help "force" learn the led's

I never got a chance to try this, but I did notice the parking light error only appear when I am signaling to the right. When the turn signal DRL’s are on in the daytime, there is no error. Should I still try your tip?

Yes. I had the same problem when I initially installed my switchbacks. I had only set the turns to led. Then set parking lights to led and no more errors

I changed 2 settings, CBC features LED turn signals and CBC features LED park lamps, then I cleared the code, went for a drive and left my turn signal on as that’s what triggered it, and ala kazaam, it’s gone! I’ll continue to monitor, but thanks for the help @1500ram12 , much appreciated!
