I cant agree with the framed side windows, to me it ruins the lines on the side of the truck. As for replacing them, i have twice broken a rear window in a topper, but never a side window.

I can respect that. Different people, different experiences.. heh. We will see how it is. I mean, don't have anything now, so something is an improvement imo. I just know I want my dogs to have a safe place to travel, and preserve my interior ;)

I am sure it will be fine either way, but you are right.. the upper quality windows sure are nice.

To me, it made no sense to pay big money on a good looking truck, and then save a couple hundred buying the cheaper windows. That is just my opinion of course.

And I totally get and appreciate that. To me, I think both look awesome heh. I think "cheaper" may not be the right word, different would probably be better, since the other windows look more like a SUV, but I own a truck and so, well.. I wanted it to not only be cost efficient, but also look like a camper shell, vs a SUV.

Either way, I think they all look good, I just liked the hinges on the A.R.E. Z series better, but not paying 1k more for hinges :p

I have the 100xq leer supposedly the highest model they sell.. and I’ve had a ranch premier .. all seemed about the same to me I’d go for the better price and put the savings into leds for lighting and whatnot

Thanks I actually picked it up used it was 1 yr old and paid 600 for it .. made the dealer throw in the repaint on the truck deal so I can’t complain a bit...it didn’t have the auto lock feature but I have that module on order from my truck store

You did a little better than I did. My dealer resprayed this one year old Leer 100XL for me and I paid a grand. I couldn't say no.

It’s crazy how expensive caps have gotten. I bought a fully loaded Leer in ‘00 for my ‘99 & it was right around $900!

Unless you’re dead set on knew, why not buy used?
I bought a Century cap last year for $300, it’s mineral grey & the truck is granite crystal so I will have an easy paint job, & is only going to cost me another $400 to do.

I've had 2 Leer's and would recommend Leer to you too. My first one had the removable front window. Do you know how many times i took it out to clean windows in 11 years? None, so I would pass on the removable window. I did get the headliner and 2 clothes racks. Ask for the website discounts.20180206_140054.jpg 20180206_140054.jpg 20180207_073531.jpg 20180207_153310.jpg

I have an ARE and am not happy with the part that is molded to fit the tailgate on the back window, it is deforming at the point it mounts to the window and I suspect it won't last long, it seems very flimsy so I have to close it very gently for fear of breaking it.

I have had both. I had an ARE on my 2013 2500 crew cab and I currently have a Leer on my 2015 2500 crew cab diesel. I believe I will go with ARE from now on. The Leer is a good cap, but the door doesnt seem as sturdy and it also leaks a tiny bit at the back door. ARE never leaked and just seemed like it was a better built unit. Both are good caps. I just prefer the ARE from my experiences. I didnt ge the boot option on either of the caps so I dont know if they leak or not.

My ARE plastic lip, for truck tailgate top, is also cracking. I hardly ever use that topper too.

not very pleased about.

though, full disclosure, the kids have open the tailgate, TWICE< without opening the topper lid first. thats the ones I know about, no idea how many times the other boyscouts have done it when i was not near the truck.
