So after being bored at work and digging into the lifter threads and everything that goes along with it. I got curious if my engine noise sounds like it needs new lifters. What do you think? Normal noisy hemi or too loud something is going on?

Sounds like you're hearing Injector tick.

Sounds exactly like mine. 2017 5.7 34k miles. Took mine to my mechanic before Christmas and he said normal noisy valve train Hemi noise. Still annoys the **** out of me.

Hahaha same here. Don't understand why it's such a loud idling engine. It sort of makes me feel better that yours sounds the same unless both of our engines needs something

Mine became more noticeable after installing my Vararam, which opened up the top of the engine after removing the engine cover. If it doesn't bother my mechanic I'm not gonna stress over it lol.

I would call that hemi tick, but I wouldn't call it butter smooth either. If you haven't tried 5w30, I'd consider that if it were me.

I'm two hours from Alaska. [emoji23]

Holy hell! I'm not jealous. I have a cousin that's lived in Anchorage all his life. I've also been watching Alaska PD on A&E. I knew it was cold up that way, but never knew it got THAT cold up there. Like -40 actual temp. I think there is a thread around here about some of the guys that have the Vararam that live in cold/snow climate. I think there's something they use to keep snow out, can't remember exactly.

I was hoping you'd chime in, I see you frequently replying to these types of threads. I ran 5w30 my last oil change and it did run a little bit more quiet. I decided to switch to 5w20 since it was winter. Although I am in AZ so it's not that cold however I tend to run up to the northern part of AZ somewhat often where the temps are below freezing so I thought I'd give it a try. I have 14 quarts of 5w20 redline left and 7 quarts of 5w30. I just put Redline Fuel Cleaner in my last fill up so hopefully that'll help as well.

Is it obnoxious? I don't want to be that guy in the neighborhood. Also I hunt and like taking my truck to remote locations so I don't want everyone / thing to hear me coming
