Hi,

I made a post awhile back about me wondering if I had a lifter tick, I found a broken manifold stud and people were sure it was an exhaust leak.

I’m posting a new video today because I’m still worried it may be a lifter tick.
Video

This video above is my truck at operating temp at idle.

Let me know your thoughts.

Btw I run pup 5w-30 and wix xp filter.

Amongst all the noise I can hear a distinct tapping. It’s been doing this since I owned it. I bought it used and put roughly 2500 kilometers on it

Sorry. 75000 kms on the odometer. But crazy hours 1600 idle/2200 driving.

Could be either imo, so how warm is that? Not operating temp but how long at operating temp, usually exhaust seals will expand with time depend how long it has been going on. You can do both things, use a lube strategy and be dillegant with bolts. Since you used PUP 5w30 already, try and produce some lubegard biotech.

This was maybe 25 mins or so of driving. I did do a highway drive last night towing my boat and after a good drive it was probably 20% quieter but still had some noise. I've put nearly 2500 kms on this truck since I have owned it and it's done this the entire time. I feel if I had a bad lifter it would be worse by now.

I wouldn't interject feelings at all, it is what it is. Instead of procrastinating, not saying you are just as an option, address the bolts right away. The sooner you rule out bolts or fix bolts, the sooner you have your answer. Biotech is a good idea to run either way. gl

When the manifolds warp, they can warp where they don't seal up completely when they heat up. In that case, it would still tick.

Belt sand or machine them flat, and you're good-to-go.

That was my original plan, but I think I'm going to go with the BD exhaust manifolds
