Hi guys,

I am new to the forum and just want to say I have found a ton of useful information on here and have already put a lot of it to good use. I have a few questions about lifts though. I have a 2010 Quad cab 4x4 5.7 hemi. 4 Wheel Parts wants $650 to install Bilsteins which after reading a couple other threads seems excessively high. Les Schwab has never heard of them. I am handy with tools, I may do it myself, we'll see. It doesn't look too terribly difficult.

The main question is body lifts. I have seen a couple threads about 1.5 inch BL (or maybe 3") and I like the look but I cannot find anyone around here who would install it. Any suggestions? How difficult really is a body lift to install? Unfortunately I do not have any friends who are handy with tools, have a shop or are into trucks so they are worthless.

Also, I see the 3" need crush blocks welded in by the bed but the 1.5" don't, is that correct? Also, even though 4 Wheel Parts wont install the body lift they strongly discouraged it saying it would get creaks and squeaks and other problems, have any of your encountered that?

Thanks for any help

haha, yeah I know. Most of the guys I hang out with are motocross guys but they all have vans or SUV's with trailers, I am the only one with a truck.

There are plenty of YouTube videos and threads on installation of the Bilsteins. As far as the BL goes if you watch some of the videos on Chevy truck installs with Rough country BL or even a PA 3". It will give you a good idea on how easy the install is. Not exactly the same but the meat and potatoes are.

Bilsteins- basically jack it up and put on stands, unbolt calipers and sway bar, UCA from Spindle and lower the LCA. Unbolt lower strut bolt, theme top 3 strut bolts and remove strut assembly.
Then with a spring compressor remove the old strut and replace with Bilstein set at preferred height setting.
Reinstall in reverse and do the other side. Then get aligned.
There is more to it and I'm on my phone writing this but it's not difficult, read the instructions.

Body lift is too simple, espicially the smaller 1.5 or 1.25" ones.

I did a Zone 1.5" Body lift on top of my Zone 6" suspension lift and it really wasn't all that bad. The front was a bit of a PITA but the bed was really simple.

Thanks for the replies. You pretty much confirmed my thoughts. I don't have a sport so hopefully that will make it easier.

The bilsteins wont be bad to install, the body lift isnt hard, it just takes time cause you have to take all the bumpers and what not off to relocate them.
