So I’m thinking I need to replace my ball joints but it looks like i can’t just replace the ball joint. I’ve got a 2015 ram 1500 long horn RWD. The cap looks like it’s got 4 sports holding it instead of a snap ring. Basically can just the ball joint be replaced or do I need to do the whole lower A arm

Air hammer with a chissel bit just push them towards center of balljoint. Or old-school with chissel and hammer. Just don't damage the control arm. Once those are pushed in use a balljoint press and it should slide out with a few twists.

Are lowers that will fit as far as I know. If you do end up getting one from a parts store make sure it comes with the snap ring retainer. I personally like those more for just an added safety.

TTX Mevotechs are a pretty damn good lower ball
Joint. When my Moog’s go, I’m replacing with them.
I was thinking about these, but my bushings are toast too... replacing both and the ball joing.. at that point seems easier to just buy a new one.

But the whole Mevotech lower control arm with this joint. I can’t remember the part number but search for the ball joint and it should be easy to find. It’s an ugly green colour though lol. Easier to do then just swapping a ball joint.

I did the lower ball joint when I replaced my struts. Pretty straight forward, even with 4x4. I did the Moog. Handling was vastly improved. Originals are not meant to last 70K miles

I haven't done it on my 4th gen yet. On my 3rd gen I would use the Ball joint/Ujoint kit from autozone. You can borrow them free with a deposit.
