Went to the shop today. Got my Magnaflow 14 installed on my 2013 Ram 1500. I also purchased a Magnaflow Y pipe but didn't end up getting it put on. The shop said they would have to run some new piping and bends because of where the stock y sits because the new one would have to sit back further on the 3" pipe. They estimated about 2.5 hours of labor and a total of around $200-$250. Is this about right?

I looked under the truck with the guy and see what he's saying, just curious if here's another way to install this $30 part. Does anyone have any pics of how there's is run that I can show the guys at the shop?

that's about right.

make sure they do mandrel bends, if not then save your money. you can buy the 90* and 45* mandrel pipes and just have them install it.

Shop labor varies on the Y-pipes. Some guys have had theirs installed for only $50-$60 where others have been quoted $200-$250 like you were. I would just ask around at a few other shops because most places can knock this out in an hour.

I haven't had a shop install anything on my vehicles for a long time. Usually I only trust myself with the work, but in this case I don't have welding skills or torches. Amazed at how many shops I called that do not install customer purchased parts. I'll do a little more research and see what I can find. Hopefully someone comes in below the quote I got today.

"Amazed at how many shops I called that do not install customer purchased parts. "

I had a shop tell me that. He said "a resturant wouldn't cook a steak you brought in". I told him the Butcher Shop in Memphis would, and took my muffler down the street. Spent $280 to have the y-pipe removed and a muffler installed. He lost $280 to get a $30 dollar markup on a $100 muffler.

You can't fix stupid

yup, when they do that they wizz away income....makes no sense NOT to install something even IF a customer bought it online.
Some have their own 'ethics' that they want to make money off parts, and install...those days are gone. Adapt your business model, or your a dying business.
