Try starting out in drive. Then press the - switch and it should go to 1st. Then press + to move up.

You must start the process holding the "-" and then it should should lock into whatever gear you are currently in. Then, you can set the highest gear by toggling up or down. You have to hold the "-" for a second or two to get it to get it to register so be sure you're doing that.

You do have to firmly press the button.

I start manually shifting by putting the truck in drive, then pressing (and holding) the - button. It goes to 1st gear, then I press the + button to put it in the gear I want it to hold. 0 - 25 in 2nd gear, 0 - 35 in 3rd, 0 - 45 in 4th, 0 - 55 in 5th, freeway cruising above 55 in 6th or Full Auto D.

Just to add what others have posted, you won't be able to "manually shift" per se. You can force it to downshift by pressing "-", but you cannot force it to upshift. Whatever gear you select will be the top gear if will use, but you are not in control of when it shift to that top gear.

As 5150 stated it won't let you manually shift as what you might be used to. I thought it would be the same as the paddles on my Durango, but it doesn't work like that. Pretty much just a gear hold.
