I have a 2021 Bighorn 1500 Hemi Etorque Crew Cab and am within a hairs breath of trading up to a 2024 Bighorn 2500 Crew Cab. I did a test drive of the 2500 and it felt stiffer than my 1500 and had a couple less add-ons than the 1500. Otherwise, it seemed fine. (I need to either get a larger truck or a smaller camper. The camper I'm pulling is just over what the 1500 should be pulling.) Thanks for any comments comparing the 2500 Bighorn to my 1500 Bighorn.

I moved from a’19 Rebel 1500 w/5.7 to a ‘22 2500 w/ 6.4, very happy with bigger truck.

I recently stepped up to a 2024 2500 CC with the 6.4L HEMI in it. It's my second 6.4L powered truck, the last one being a 2014. I had a 2021 Jeep Gladiator and the difference between it and this Ram is incredible. I'm very very glad I made the move.

Oh yeah, there was a Cummins in between the Jeep & the 2014. I regret moving away from Ram trucks when I did.

Yes, the 2500 will ride a bit rougher when not loaded but it can tow a lot more than a 1500.

Good luck with your decision.

It's definitely going to be stiffer and the driving characteristics are different with a solid front axle vs IFS. It's not uncomfortable or nearly as buckboard wagon-ish as the 3/4 tons of yesteryear, but it's not going to ride like the 1500 does. More weight, more unsprung weight, stiffer springs, less flexy sidewalls on the tires, etc.

The Power Wagon splits the difference in stiffness, but if you're buying to tow that's likely not what you're looking for.

Went from an ‘09 Laramie 1500 to my signature truck when we had the big fifth wheel. Rougher ride empty but towing the fiver through 10-11,000ft mountains with 6-7% grades was very comfortable. Can’t go wrong with a bigger truck, so long as you don’t mind the stiffer ride empty.

I've been in 2500/3500s for over a decade and for about a year I switched over to a 1500. It rode a lot nicer, but I just couldn't stand it because it wasn't a capable tow rig (for my needs). Went back to a 2500 and haven't regretted it once. It is definitely a stiffer ride than a 1500 when unloaded, but toss a load behind it and it is a pretty smooth ride. Good luck!
