Hey guys I'm getting a custom tune from Hemifever and I'm not sure if I want the MDS on or off. Any issues with turning the MDS off? And for curiosity sake is there any change in mileage with turning off the MDS? Thanks for any input.

i dont have a tune that keeps the mds off but when i first got my truck i didnt like it and turned it off everytime. From what i have seen is that it doesnt make a difference. i think the mpg might have dropped a tiny bit but not a whole bunch. maybe -1 mpg at the most. I personally would keep it off when tuned because i find it annoying but thats me.

If you care more about performance and throttle response, then I would turn it off. If you strictly drive on the highway in the 50-70mph range and want the best mileage you can get, then leave it on.

You can always turn it on and off yourself any time you want using the handheld.

I drive lots of HWY to and from work everyday, 120 miles round trip and I'm getting over 20 on the HWY and averaging out to 18.5 - 19 including the city and that's all with the HF tuning and MDS turned off.

Now I don't ever have it on so I'm not sure what I'm missing out on if I was to gain some mileage but I'm definitely doing well with it turned off even still. Just depends on how heavy my foot is.

Ah ok never knew you could turn it on/off with the tuner. Guess I was more worried about something going wrong with turning it off, if there was a chance of that, rather than mpg. Thanks guys for the responses [emoji1360]

Once you select your tune on the tuner, the next screen will ask if you want to modify the tune. Click yes, and then just scroll through the options until you see MDS. That is where you would turn it on or off.

Before I had my tuner I was always manually turning it off because it made the truck annoying to drive. Between the exhaust sound and it seemed to confuse the transmission at low speeds.

I am currently average 19.6 mpg and am happy with that.

I believe it's Multi-Displacement System.

You can more than likely hear it while driving. There's a decent audible difference when cruising and then I could always tell when it was coming out of MDS whenever I needed to pass someone.

The ECO mode is separate from MDS.
There's a button you can hit that will make it not display ECO anymore too.
