So i installed the kicker mopar speakers a while back and found the (2) 1" dash speakers a little harsh and too crisp. Has anyone installed anything else that sounds a little softer?

I noticed the same thing when I installed my kicker speaker kit. The sound out of the tweeters was just to loud and seemed a little raspy. I have a 14 Quad Cab with the RA4 radio and replaced all six speakers. At first I was just going to put the stock tweeters back in but decided to wait a week or two to get used to the new sound and adjust the audio where I want it. I actually like the sound now after I have gotten used to it. These speakers rock pretty good for little 6x9's with no amp.

If you are running the 6 speaker OEM setup, the dash speakers are 8ohm and tied to the front door speakers that are 4ohm. The dash speakers do not see the full power as the front doors do.

When you replace the dash speakers with aftermarket, and they are usually 4ohm, the dash speakers and front door speakers are getting the same power. Meaning that the dash speakers are going to play louder.

I am running Rockford Fosgate components in my front doors and left the OEM speaker in the dash as the aftermarket was playing very loud and in my face.

So check the ohm on the Kicker tweeter in the dash and see what it is.

If you have the Kicker Mopar upgraded speakers then the ohms should be correct. Most people I've seen get the upgrade with the 3.5" speakers and not the tweeters..... I've been going to order the upgraded speakers but wanted to go with the tweeters myself. Give it some time and play with the sound adjustments on the radio and see if it grows on you.

Great info thanks, would it make sense to find an aftermarket 8ohm 3.5 to reduce the amount current sent? Thanks again

And another reason the sound so loud, is in the base audio you can barely hear them at all...once you hear the factory 3.5", they do seem a lot brighter.

The kicker mopar 6x9s

So if the doors have a tweeter in them as well this can come across as being to harsh. Kicker makes some good stuff but to me the tweeters can use some work as they have always sounded loud and in my face and for my tastes that just doesn't work, I want to say that is my tastes as everyone is different. I should say I haven't gotten to play with the Q stuff yet but have heard great things.
For another good tweeter to try is some of the deep chamber stuff from Dayton audio at partexpress.com.

In my setup the front door speakers don't have the tweeter but the back door speakers do. I am honestly OK with mine now that I have gotten used to it and adjusted it where I like it. I actually like them alot.

I have a reg cab with 4,6x9's (mopar kickers no tweeters ) I also thought the tweeters sounded way to bright plus I don't care for all of the reflected sound from the windshield screwing up imagining . I had to deal with the same BS with GM trucks back in the early 90s .You would of thought they would of learned by now. Any way I reinstalled the OE dash speakers temporarily which blend in better till I can get some better tweeters mounted in the little sail panels or angled mounts maybe like the tombstones in a Jeep JK . I only use one set of tweeters per cab. I prefer the sound stage to be up front across the dash as much as possible.
