It will be hard to find anything with absolutely no drone but I would recommend a Solo Performance muffler, Borla muffler, or Magnaflow muffler. Those all will help give a deeper tone and will be louder than stock. We can vary how loud it gets with the size or type of muffler we go with. I would lean toward Solo for the best option but I suggest checking youtube for a sound you like on a 3.6 and let me know what you like. What I like and what you like could be 2 different things and I want to make sure we get you the sound you are looking for. try searching youtube for your motor with those brands I recommended and message me with your thoughts

I did it with a x pipe on my 18. Pros sounds like a freaking monster. Cold start are beastly. I love loud so it fits me lol actually plan to do LTs on top of it lol. Cons sounds like a chopper if you let mds kick in. I drones a little but not horrible I commute 80 mi each way to work and I barely notice it now. Neighbors will hate you lol. Overall though best 150 bucks I've spent. I am going to redo the exhaust soon to do a single exit and I'm gonna toss a muffler on then only because it's getting big wheels and tires and the extra strain will intensify the drone.

prefer replacing the muffler with a Flowmaster 40 and deleting the resonators, that is the best way to go. No drone, loud but NOT too loud, etc. best..cheers

I had a Mufflex muffler delete pipe on my 14 Ram. I never had it dyno'd or anything like that, but I definitely felt that it lost a bit of low end grunt. I'm sure it picked it back up on the higher RPMs but I dont drive in that range. I ended up installing a direct fit flowmaster 44 in its place. I know theres a lot of hate for flowmaster but I like it. Nice rumble and has the low end grunt back.
As for sound, the delete pipe sounded pretty good. Not as deep as having a flowmaster in place and a bit "raspier". If you decide to go the muffler delete route, I'd definitely keep the resonator (or resonators if its factory duals) on the truck. Without them, it will be very loud, which may be fine if that's what you like, but the sound becomes very raspy.

All boils down to exhaust velocity with the least amount of resistance. With that said removing a muffler and keeping stock size pipe removes a restriction and maintains velocity and scavenging = no loss in power.

I deleted my muffler on my old 2013 5.7 and it sounded really good. Was very loud under wide open, but cruzing speed it sounded like an old muscle car. I had the 6 speed transmission so I lost a little low end, but 60-120MPH it would dig hard like a mother.

Had that done on my 2015. No mufflers, just straight piped.....THE cheapest form of entertainment I think.
Sounds completely badass, or as someone told me, sounds "monstrous" especially at wide open throttle. And starting the truck when it's cold, always a complete grin inducer. Do it, you'll be glad you did.

I deleted my muffler and didn’t notice anything? Although I didn’t go on a timed track before and after. I don’t see anything difference city and highway driving in power.

No you won’t loose any power. As a matter of fact you’ll actually wake the motor up and gain a little.

Good article. Pretty simple if you think about it... Keep those gases moving...

I had a good article about the original Ford GT40 "bundle of snakes" exhaust system and why that one looked so funny (180 degree headers; they crossed the right bank and left bank cylinder pipes into the collectors & tuned the length of each pipe so the exhaust impulse of each single cylinder was timed to not interfere with any other as it merged through the collector and reached the exhaust tip, which also helps provide for the most constant flow of exhaust and the best scavenging effect of the whole system).


Check out my friends race prepped Superformance GT40 on the track. Listen to THIS exhaust sound, especially when compared to the race-prepped Vipers, Vettes and Porsches he is on the track with (and beating BTW)...
This small/Windsor block based, single carbureted motor makes somewhere around 780HP.

The only thing I might disagree with that article is when he brings up 2 cycle snowmobile engines, which are piston port designs. The expansion chambers on those exhaust systems ARE designed to give backpressure at the proper moment of the cylinder's exhaust port closing because there is much unburned fuel which piston port engines dump into the exhaust and the timed reverberation of the exhaust pulse helps to push that unburned fuel back into the cylinder right as the exhaust port closes for the next compression stroke (which is EVERY upward stroke of a 2 cycle engine). The length of the expansion chamber is what times that reverberated pulse and you tune the expansion chamber length to the RPM range where you want the most horsepower created...
