So shortly after buying my new to me 01 5.9 4x4 I cut out the stock 36" muffler and replaced it with a flowmaster super 44 and some 2.5" stainless steel pipe. (installed roughly 3 weeks ago).... And it's not loud enough! It sound deep/throaty when motor has been running for 20+ minutes but when the engine is cold or is ran for under 10 min it just doesn't turn heads like I would like.

I know I can't return the 44(sucks I can't return it) so I'm consider selling it for 50-60 bucks to someone and buying any other muffler.

I'm thinking of a flowmaster 10... Any recommendations for loud setup?

Cherry Bomb Extreme.

Thanks for always answering my questions bud! I'd rep ya if I knew how!

I'm looking for a loud mean sound but don't want the crappy sound as if you cut your exhaust off at the headers(my buddy did that, don't recommend it). I like the tone of the super 44 but it's just not loud enough.

Should I re-route the exhaust to dump out on side before the rear axel or a different muffler?

I think you'll like the Extreme when taken out to the bumper. More pipe means less rowdiness, but still mean.

Cherry bomb will fit nicely into the budget as well! But again just want to make sure it will sound good correct? Ideally I want it to sound like an expensive loud not like I cut out the old muffler and just straight pipped it

I have 3" duals with the Flowmaster super 44 and 5" tips and I too wish it was louder, but it's probably a safe loud. Hopefully you find what you're looking for.

Also keep in mind that in that video he has an offroad y-pipe and I would assume he doesn't have a catalytic converter so that may add to the loudness as well.

Somethin I think would be cool would be to get a Borla under one of these trucks. I like the way Borla sounds and nobody does it.

I was hoping he'd read the description so I wouldn't have to copy it into my post.

That sounded nice and loud! But borderline kinda like a cheap setup when high rpms... But I still have the stock cat so maybe it will tone it down on those high rpms. Thanks for the video!

99RamSport brought that up. That guy has an off road y-pipe with no cat, so I think with a stock cat and y-pipe it'll tone it down a bit.

And sure thing bud! :)

Damn those extremes are only $35 on amazon!

Anyone want to buy a 3 week (maybe 200 miles old) flowmaster super 44? It's a 2.5" center inlet and center outlet. Bought it for $80 plus shipping

I had the 10's put on the SRT8 Challenger and to me they sounded fine at the lower rpm's but anything over 3000 it just did not sound all that great.

That's the only thing holding me back from buying a flowmaster 10 or cherry bomb extreme right now!

I had a 99 3.4L Tacoma with a super 44 and at 3000/3500 rpms it's sounded like a riced out Honda and I definitely don't want that!

You could always put a resonator on before it if it ends up too irritating.

Straight pipes really aren't that great. My truck was recently straight piped in order to fit my spare tire back under there to get it outta the sun and weather. I'm just glad mine isn't as rappy as what you hear on youtube. At least from the drivers seat it sounds deeper. I'll get a video posted tomorrow now that Dad's letting me drive it again lol
