Hey guys, I have a story.....

I took my truck into a shop a few days ago to get a buddy of mine to change the oil and check a couple things (squeaky belt, and a exhaust rattle in low RPM).

Anyways, I had Synthetic oil in there before, and they had put reg 5w20 in it because he said ya Synthetic is nice, its not needed and if I don't want to pay $$$ for it, the 5w20 works just fine. So I went ahead with the 5w20.

They then lubed my belt to stop the annoying squeak, and then put some clamp on my exhaust he said that was causing the annoying rattle.

So. I fire it up on the way home and immediately notice the squeal is gone (score), then notice the exhaust rattle is gone (double score!) So driving around doing some errands and noticed it felt a little strange...So i took her for a rip on the highway and decided that (could be my imagination i don't know...) but the throttle response was a little S**tty, not only that but I put my foot into it to wake it up and it felt almost gutless. A gutless hemi?? I think somethings wrong, or my imagination is playing tricks on me...Not only that but I did notice when I originally fired it up at the shop that it/the engine/and or the exhaust was much quieter. I mean I used to fire it up and it had a nice low Hemi growl to her....now its quiet. Quiet as a kitten....

I am assuming Synthetic oil doesn't have that sort of affect? MY buddy is a good guy and wouldn't do any screwing around with my truck. Ive decided ill go in on the weekend and talk to him see if he did anything else he didn't mention, or if he has thoughts or suggestions..

Anyways thats my story. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Cant help as I run non synthetic oil but I am curious about the belt. If there is belt noise there is something more then likely wrong. Belt dressing will only cover up the noise/problem. Believe me, I am fighting a slight squeal right now...

Mineral, synthetic oils have no involvement with truck accerlating..
The noise your use to might have been the exhaust leak..
If she is gutless, something most likely got touched or changed..

Does anyone else's truck have that nice low Hemi rumble to it? Must say, Im quite disappointed in how quiet it is now... I used to enjoy the flare of the engine letting me know theres 400 horses under there...

With headers and a magnaflow muffler, mine sure has a little rumble to it. Get a different muffler if you want more noise. You probably had an exhaust leak that you were hearing.

Oil has nothing to do with throttle response, unless of course he put 60 weight in it.as for belt dressing, middle age stuff, bad belt, bearing or idle pulley, have it fixed right or it will fail later and might ruin something else.
