So I updated the uconnect on my 2016 ram Limited a while back to the latest with no issues since. Now I got swayed into purchasing the latest Navigation maps for the $99 special. Followed installation instruction and all went well, took a good while of course. After it installed I let it verify what was on the mem stick and installed, both matched perfectly.
Since the map software upgrade I've been having issues with the screen resetting/crashing. When im ising it and its navigating the screen will just either go blank with only the perimeter info still there or the screen will change back to the one that says navigation is initiating with those dots. Yesterday the navigation just completely stopped altogether as if I canceled it myself.
Anyone else have this happen and is there a correction or reset possible for this to maybe clear up. Im not installing this in my wife's Durango with the possibility of this happening in her var and will just return her map update. The map customer service were NO help.

I can't offer much on the technical end but I do know that these radios do get a brain freeze when they're messed with.I've found that a few restarts and door opening and closings will sometimes fix the problem

I've updated my maps several times with no issues and I've never seen anyone else have this problem either. The one thing you may want to try is re loading your firmware if you have it. Sometimes these radios will get glitches for no known reason. If it were mine the first thing I would try a is soft reboot by pressing the volume and browse buttons simultaneously until the radio restarts. If that didn't help I would reload the radio firmware and see if it corrects it or not. If you don't have the firmware you can download it from the uconnect site. I'm assuming you could also reload the map update but I've never tried so not sure if it would work. I have had several occasions where just reloading the firmware seem to help in my radio and others.

Im going to try that. I updated to the latest firmware when it was released, No issues. It was only when I updated the nav maps did it start these or any issues.
Question: will the soft reboot erase any of the radio settings/mem ect?

No, it just re boots the radio.

After I updated mine, I occasionally get a pixelated screen then a reboot.

It happens about one a month, and usually within the first few minutes of turing on the nav.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.

Update: nav has actually gotten worse now. Guaranteed to crash everytime. Tries the reset no improvement, except that it may get me back to the screen and start navigation again from the from screen below where it says "starting navigation". Below are pictures of what randomly occurs while using the nav. The last picture is of the dash cluster frozen on the nav when the nav isnt even working anymore???
I will try reinstalling thr latest firmware as it has it already. bb61c895d341f2b6a31aede9bcacca05.jpg883c0828524d936dbf5a3fb91c6f5d5f.jpg012a1128af9679f36927ef0401c4c4b5.jpg

How would that process work with you opening a case? I called uconnect today and they said the dealer had a dealer only update 99.99.99??? . I guess I will now have to pay a dealer to do this because I decided on purchasing the map update from them?
Or can I obtain this 99.99.99 update? I already did the 18.45.01 update myself on three of my vehicle with no issues, so im capable of doing this again with this 99.99.99

Hi,

I would recommend going into your local dealership to have them update your software.

So after all attempts to fix the unit since updates as advised by Uconnect and Here(developer of maps). Reinstalled firmware 18.45.01 - no change. Reinstalled map update - no change.
Called dealer $152 service charge for them to check amd do any dealer only updates they may have. I have to pay dealer and they seek reimbursement from UCONNECT or HERE. Next week I bring it in for the day.

I usually always keep my maps current and I was going to install the latest update until I started seeing a few people posting that they were having issues after the install. I'm honestly not sure how the dealer would be able to fix it. I've never heard of the 99.99.99 update. 18.45.01 is the last one I'm aware of. Definitely let us know what you are able to find out.

Any insight on this potential dealer update?

My guess is that it's just an internal service bulletin reference to the v18.45.01 update and they won't be able to actually do anything other than to say yep, it's broke, you need a new radio. $1000 please. (Used ones are $400-$600).

Maybe if they look at it, they can get it replaced/covered by uConnect/Here since the update got it screwy.

Yep....Ill have to dig through really old emails, but IIRC someone told me that 99.99 is an internal numbering when an update is "about to come out" but its not publicly released. Thats what the 18.45.01 looked like in the system before it came out....my guess is 99.99 is still referring to the 18.45.01

As far as the issue in this thread, I kinda wonder if its another manifestation of a bad sierra card.

EDIT: ran my update check script, there does not seem to be any new updates since October of 2019.

What's a bad sierra card? Probably taking in on weds, i will let you know how I make out. Their should be a way to WIPE the radio clean and reinstall from the ground up.
My wife's 17 Durango R/T map looks [emoji817] better then the latest update. Its all white or dark no other real distinct color or anything like my wifes truck. I forget what it looked like before I paid for these problems lol
