I was just hoping out there in the world someone has had a situation like mine and had it fixed and can send me on the right path. A couple years ago the tailgate off my 2010 ram 1500 big horn edition was stolen off the truck right in my front yard. Luckily whoever took it cut the wires on the tailgate side of the plug. Insurance did not give me enough to have the camera profesionally installed after buying a new tailgate so I have bought the camera and wiring harness over the past few months. After hooking everything back up the camera does not work. Is there anything I can check before paying the dealership a ton of money to check whats wrong? I checked the fuse box under the hood and saw nothing.

I just ordered a camera to install into my tailgate handle..I bought just the little camera not the whole handle..and before this I installed one in my ford hooked to a pioneer radio. Make sure you not only have the RCA jack going to the video feed hooked up properly but also the power and ground.I've seen guys for get that the camera needs power thinking all you needed was the video feed. When I installed the camera in my ford I ran the power to a 12 volt hot wire to check the camera function...since the pioneer has nothing in the radio to let the camera know it was in reverse I ended up tying it into the power wire at the back up light bulb...when the bulb got power so did the camera. Other than the power and ground....and then the RCA video feed theres really nothing else there....at that point I would think you'd have to trace the wiring and radio connection

If it worked before it could be a defective camera.

Did you buy it new or was it used?
