So tomorrow night after work I HOPE to start working on my stereo. I'm old school as in 4 punch 12s and 2 punch 200s in the back of a 93 Toyota extended cab. That being said I intend on putting 2 Polk db 10s in a q-bomb box under the back seat of my 2015 ram cc. I'll power them with a Memphis 1000wt mono. The rest of the speakers will be replaced wit Polk db and powered with a Rockford Punch 400x4 keeping the factory head unit and using an LC7 by audio control. Any one using a setup like this? I know I won't be winning any competitions but will I be even closely impressed?

my first thought was they are still around... then once i goolged it i see with their price points they are not what they use to be. i played with them a bit back in 99-00 when i started installing for shops. back then they were not as cheap as they are now so i couldnt tell you how i like them anymore...

back then they were a good speaker.

There are a few threads around talking about needing your head unit to see resistance at the speaker and the LC7 may not provide that. Depends on the head unit maybe? Dunno, that was the first thing I took out of mine. Personally, I would save the headache and get a new deck. Only as good as your weakest link.

Completely not true for the Ram 8.4". I am using the JL Audio FiX 82 to sum my channels as well as for its DSP. Sound is amazing and I didn't have any issues.

Before I got the FiX 82 I was using speaker wire to RCA adapters directly into my JL Audio HD 900/5 with no issues either and no line out converter.

I will say this about the factory head unit. The sound before using a DSP is horrible. Especially if you are using a decent amplifier. I was getting a horrible hiss sound from the low noise floor of the radio. I would definitely get a some sort of sound processor.

I have a full JL Audio system and it is amazing in this truck.

1x FiX 82 - summing and digital sound processing
4 x C2 6x9's
2 x C2 3.5's
1x 10w3v3 in btrend box
1x HD 900/5 amplifier for doors and sub.

JLChris do you have the Alpine or Non Alpine factory system? We have seen this issue with other Rams but I can't recall if they had premium or not.

I don't think you'll like the q-bomb box coming from 4 12s I had one and hated it. Finally got a deal on a ported fox box for 2 10s put 2 sundown e 10s in and say hello to bass aging. Also those all wood box's have no air space

Ok so the box fit like a glove but!!! The seats will only go 3/4 the way down. So sending it back and using a temporary box for the time being. temporary box is ok. The wife likes it and they sound good on some types of music. The verdic is still out. Once everything is done I'll make my mind up. Lol

Just lift the seat I had to in my truck. The foxbox comes with the spacers. I've made them before you can't tell unless you look

The qbomb box fit like a glove BUT even with 3/4" spacers the seat would not come all the way back down. Just ordered a Fox Box. Maybe that will work.

Also fix box recommends jl 10w6 v2. Maybe I should get them. Any opinions. I can just put the Polk dbs in the wife's car.

Well the v2 is a great sub but JL does not sell them anymore or support them. So if you do find them they will still be at a premium price with no warranty.

Update

I now have now gotten a fox box. Freaking amazing is all I can say. I'm still running the Polk db svc 10's but thinking about going JL w6 or Alpine Type R. I have not gotten around to changing the factory door and dash speakers yet. Everyone that has heard my truck is amazed at how hard the subs hit with quality sound and no aftermarket head unit. Maybe I will reach that 4 12's sound eventually lmao. Next question does anyone use eq' any more?

Champ..I was thinking the same thing..An eq just might help the factory alpine in my 16 qc some..
Love to upgrade without a huge bill, just dont have the avail coin being off work on medical the last two months..
Had a nice one in my 2010,pair of 10's under my rear seat in a sealed box..Swapped out all the speakers and a nice ddx 470 hu..Forget the amp brand but it was all kenwood gear..Was just right for what i wanted..
I got the alpine upgrade on the 16 figureing it would be good enough...NOT EVEN CLOSE!!

Did you get the sealed or ported fox box?

How was the fit? Was the spacers easy to install? Did they allow your back part of your seat to fold forward?

I was told you lose the cup holders. Is that true?

Reason I'm asking is I have one coming. Just ordered it on the 21st and it's supposed to ship today the 1st. So hopefully next week. I've got two 12" kicker compr subs in a pre fab box and while they don't sound horrible. I can tell they need more air space. The guy at fox said to get the dual 12" ported without a doubt. I'm worried. I've always been a sealed box guy. Hope it sounds good. If not I'll seal that sucker up. LOL

In my 2010 i had a seal box with a pair of 10's(kenwoods i think or was it kicker)and with only 300 w amp it pumped preddy damn good...Now i used 10's cause i like 80's rock so i wanted tighter base so the 12's are more for techno or rap..Just be ready for that diff to..

Yes it came with spacers, fits like a glove, and mine is vented. Promise you'll love no doubt.
