So I had a full maintenance done on my truck last week changing all the diff fluids spark plugs Etc .

My truck is a 2013 Ram 1500 with the 6 speed transmission. On a Whim I messaged Jay Greene and ask him about his new Trans Tune that he has.

We chatted for a couple of minutes and I pulled the trigger. Let me tell you, this is the best thing I've ever done. I received a tune and a transmission tune for a reasonable price of $225. If I didn't know any better I would swear my truck had a stall converter in it this is how awesome the Trans Tune is for the 6-speed.

My truck is running perfect. Jay's Tunes really are that good!

The shifting between 1st 2nd and 3rd gear are amazing the RPMs stay high in the Rev range. I haven't even installed my 2600 converter yet .I can't wait to install it.

you left the valve body stock? More line pressure? If so I'd do the whole enchalada, gm solonoid, springs, plate, shift linckage, metal thread and syn filter upgrade, redline c+, etc.

So what exactly was has changed on the trans tune? Also what can be modified with the 6spd. I have a 91 JG tune but ask for nothing crazy for the trans due at the time I was a cable guy running my own truck now Im a hvac tech not working my truck. I would love suggestions. I tow a 4500lb rv trailer every other week.

What can be modified on a 6 speed is a money question, how much do you want to spend? You can probably tow the trailer a lot easier with a gear swap then trans tune. What gears do you have?

My truck is an outdoorsman with the 392.
I wasn't sure if any trans tune would do much on the 6spd other than shift point and stiffness in shifts

Unless I'm aggressive with the gas petal, and sometimes even then, the truck upshifts too soon. Quite often the RPM drops below 1500. There ain't much going on below 1500.

I asked for a tune from Hemi Fever, that would hold the gears longer, but the new tune I received was pretty much like what I had.

I use the Slap Stick in my truck a lot. It's a good band-aid. But I don't understand why the truck is programmed, even with a Tune, to run at such low RPM. Let that engine spin! I didn't put 4.10s in it to lug around below 1500 rpm. This problem manifests itself when driving around town. On an onramp type situation, it's fine.

I had a hemifever tuning also. I decided it was a time for change and I went with Jay Greene, I had heard he had a transmission tune. I can also tell that the tune gave me is a lot better, my truck runs a lot better, A lot better.

Just talked to Hemifever and he said he can do that too. Have transmission use all gears on normal drive up shift.

FYI Sean has been doing this true 6 speed tuning for 3 years now. I have both Jay's and Sean's true 6 speed tunes and the HF 6 speed tune is better on my truck. Jay's shifts big down under heavy throttle where Sean's shifts get quicker and firmer under higher throttle.

This is just my experience, not trying to start a tuner war. I like and respect both tuners. I do use Jay's tune when I'm towing my camper because I get less ST Knock when the truck is pulling 4000lbs.

Yes I uploaded it today after he sent me the tune. I like it a lot for the six speed. There are a lot of times fourth gear isnt right depending on your speed and throttle. This allows it to downshift to third as well which is awesome under throttle. However I will be switching to hp tuner soon with Greene. I’ll have both then so I can compare differences and keep the one I want. I highly recommend this transmission tune though. I had no idea it existed until today. Sean should of said something to me about it. I would have had him do this much sooner. I had been not Happy completely with the tune I had from him. He also adjusted take off under full throttle he said. But much happier. Trucks feels much stronger

Manufacturers think low rpms mean fuel savings. But if they are too low based on vehicle speed it can cost more fuel.A little higher rpm actually can save fuel, lighter on pedal at higher rpm. And deeper into pedal at lower rpm has a slight lugging effect and waste more fuel is my experience.I've driven gas and diesel commercial vehicles and it seems to hold true.

Just keep in mind if you change the psi in the lines, you may need to upgrade valve body one day or another. Here's the point, it's a total upgrade, stock sucks. But, you may need to upgrade stuff to support it. It might just be all fine and last 100k, or you may loose over drive or get a leaky stock plate and then you will have a decision to make as far as valve body. Might even happen w/o a tune stock sux. Here's the thing, do the valve body right you should only have to do it once, it wil protect the transmision that much more. Watch those video's, transmision with drain pan to drain ester fluid every 30k, and a good valve body, that tranny might outlast the engine!

I’ve installed on my truck a sonnax kit for the valve body and a rebuilt valve body with all the upgrades it can get. Deep tranny pan with c+ redline. Flushed out all old fluid as well. I think my torque converter is going though. Going to rebuild tranny next year anyway so I can install a new torque converter.
