Hello from Iowa. I’m currently shopping 18 PWs and need some feedback. I’ve read every stat, thread, review, google etc etc I can find and cannot get the answer to this. My garage has 82” below the seal in height. All the stats I’m reading are an even 81”. Is this number to cab max? Is it to the tip of the shark fin? What I’m looking for is those of you that are parking inside with a ‘17 or ‘18 with no mods/100% stock, please let me know what your door height is. A very very sincere thank you in advance.

Just tried to measure the height, not easy to do accurately. The shark fin might just be under 82”.

78” at the highest spot on the cab.

Would love a new garage, would settle for a new door lol. I was going to hit the dealership up about taking it home for a test fit but wasn’t sure if they’d dig since it’s 16mi each way and we just had about 5-6” of snow this morning.

Thanks! I’m sure that salesperson won’t mind driving that PW to your house if you are willing to buy one.

Or rent a 2500 and add 3”? I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in on the PW’s exact height.

Well even if they don’t that pic was worth 1000 words. Seriously spent hours and hours looking for something just like that thanks again man. Currently I have a ‘15 F-150 with an icon stage 2. For a un-lifted 1/2 ton it’s somewhat tall but is dwarfed by the pw. It fits with about 4” to go overhead and mirrors folded.

OK now you got me thinking. I ran a string across my building, 40 foot at 82 inches high. Check it out. I think you got like 2”....

You owe me a beer.

I guess the only thing you need to worry about now is what kind a garage door opener do you have sometimes they sit actually lower than the door upper arch. I have a side mount.

Living in snow country the 5-6" of snow with just within a few inches of garage door roof clearance to spare would be of a concern. With 1 to 3" snow forecasted for here in Colorado today, another 5 to 8" forecasted for tonight, additional snow forecasted tomorrow and so on through our 6 to 7 month winter season, I could see the possibility of heading up into my unplowed driveway tonight through nearly a foot of snow and continuing on into the garage. The truck would be riding somewhat higher on top of a few inches of compressed fresh snow. If it cleared it when the driveway was dry, it probably wouldn't clear it now. Luckily, I haven't even attempted to park my Power Wagon into garage since I have owned it due to its topper roof rack just won't clear the opening. I park it outside in front of the garage door.

I took this photo on Monday at the small ski area which is less than 10 minutes from my home. Getting whomped with a large amount of Champagne powder snowfall this season. Perfect environment for the Power Wagon.

A stock 2014-2019 PW is just under 82" with no payload and tires at 60/65 psi. The antenna is right at 84". It's a bit unnerving when your antenna hits. I spent a long time measuring mine and have an overhead beam that is at 83.5". My antenna (when stock at 84") hits that every time I drive under it. I had right at 2.25" of room to squeeze under it, with about 700 lbs of payload and 285x70R17 Duratracs at 50/50 psi.

I put on a set of 35x12.50r17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, which are right at 2 inches taller, but of course only add 1" to the total height of the truck. Now my antenna hits even more, but I still clear the 83.5" overhead beam with the rest of the truck.

It would be AWESOME if the antenna was exactly level with the highest point on the rest of the truck so you could use that as a gauge before you hit. Keep in mind that if you are off camber or steep incline/decline it may still hit somewhere on the top of the cab even if it missed the antenna. Someday I'll play around with it and let you know how much of the antenna can be cut off to be even with the highest point on the truck....

Kind of along the same lines of the snow mentioned above, you also have to consider the angle of your drive just in front of the garage door.

I whacked my antenna off at the base. It was always hitting and flopping around through brush and trees. ZERO reception unless in the city.....satellite radio and iPod is all I use.

I have a stock 17 and it fits in my garage. That was the first thing I checked, before we bought the house last year. I can measure mine, but like others have said if you are serious, have them let you test fit it at your house. You’ll need a good footer in the front to fit it all the way as well.

I measured my garage door. It’s hard to get the highest point of my truck against the opening, but 80 3/4 to 81 is what I have. You should be good I’d you’re close to those numbers.
