I bought a 2014 last year as my first ram. It was a tradesman with 50k on the clock. Fast forward a year and I put nearly 40k on it. At the time I was working far from home and was doing almost 100 miles a day commuting. The truck was a v6 and I had nothing but issues with it. Nothing serious just stupid issues that I didnt expect in a 4 year old truck.
The front end clunking finally got to me last week. I was at the dealership for the recall and managed to leave in a 2016 1500 sport with 40k on the clock. They gave me more than KBB for mine and took $4k off the 2016.
The truck is immaculate. Barely a scratch or swirl in the paint, and the deal was a no brainer. I had them remove the running boards after the test drive. Signed the papers and drove home. Pulled in my driveway and clunk clunk.....they forgot to reinstall the front body mounts.
Then I noticed an awful creaking noise coming from the passenger vent. Took it back and they replaced the blend door actuator behind the glovebox. No dice, same problem the next day. Took it back again, said the fixed it....nope noise is even louder.
Now they're saying the whole air box needs to be replaced on that side. Which means my dash has to come apart. I cant find anyone else whose had the same issue which wasnt fixed with an actuator change. The noise is only on start up and shut down when the door moves. I can move the temp, fan speed, open/close recirc and there's no noise! It's only on start up and shut down.
It's under warranty for a few more months but dash removals always lead to noise. Is the recirc side able to be replaced or is it the whole HVAC unit under the dash? Anyone experience this?
Glad I spent this much money on a truck only to have issues within the first day
