Keep in mind it will only engage when going UNDER 1.3 mph. You would have to quickly completely remove your foot from the brake pedal for it to engage. So, when people say it “slams” itself into park, it’s just being over dramatic because of the disdain for the feature. It’s more of a roll stop, like when parking on a slight incline without engaging the parking brake. You just proved how hard it is to actually engage auto park when you get rolling with your foot on the brake.
I don’t think I’m being over-dramatic because the one and only time where my auto-park engaged, it literally came to an abrupt stop like you shoved it into park before coming to a complete stop. Made a god-awful racket, about like what I described, “slamming” virtually any automatic transmission into park. Lol.
But what are you saying, the auto-park only engages when the speed is below 1.3 miles and hour? Seems like that day in that parking lot, I was going a lot faster than that when it indeed
slammed itself into park.
