I'm shopping for a 3500 dually crew cab 4X4 HO Cummins 8 foot bed either Laramie or Big Horn to pull a 21,000 lb GVWR 5th wheel but the numbers don't make sense. I see this under the Ramtrucks.com Detailed specs page:
Taking the GVWR minus the Curb weight I would think equals the payload but not even close so I look up the actual specs using VIN on ramtrucks and see this:
If I can't exceed GVWR and curb is @ 7,500 lbs how can they put 5,216 for payload?
I'm guessing my kingpin will be somewhere between 4 to 4,500 lbs so I need at least 5,000 payload. I'm starting my search online so I know which dealers might have what I want and I'm 5 hours from these dealers (I'm in Cali and want to purchase in Phoenix). In short, if there's real numbers on the door post I can't get to them. Is there another way to get the real numbers or am I way off?
