I thought adding an amp to my JL speakers would be great and no big deal as I have put them in my 4 previous vehicles; however, that was not that case. Please offer any advice.
Problem 1: Loud popping occurs then the amp cuts on.
Problem 2: 1 speaker plays sometimes and cuts out other times or makes crackling sounds, I've checked all the wires and they look good.
Problem 3: I mounted my down low and it keeps the see from being able to open up all the way, I guess maybe I need to move it further up??

I thought it could be a grounding issue but i used the bolt that holds on those loops behind the seat and sanded off all the paint. The ground connector to amp, could it be the problem because it is less than ideal. I had to trim the spade connect that came with the kicker amp kit because it wouldn't fit in the ground hole...this is a huge nightmare to say the least.

Sounds like the ground. Did you run new wires to each door or just to the factory wiring. On the speaker ohm the wire see if its got high resistance could be a bad wire or connector.

I had that issue when I did the same thing in my 2008. I ended up having speakers that drew too much energy and caused the popping sounds. I hope that is not what is causing your issues.

try what jeremy said in your other thread about not using connectors for the ground connection. Just cut sheathing off the ground wire and tighten the set screw down on the bare wire. Same for your power write going into the amp.

Does that mean there was no fix for the problem....

What hu are you running? How and where did you get the ground? What amp is it?

Also it is not necessary to run wires to each door. The oem wire is plenty for any speaker.

Running the basic HU that came in the truck, non-Alpine. Ground running off of bolt that holds on the loop behind the seat. Amp is a Kicker zx700.5.

No I had the options of downgrading my door speakers or upgrading my amplifier. I went with selling the truck lol. It was not because of the speaker issue.

I'd suggest always using better wire than OEM unless your just doing basic coax repalcements...adding power to doors and better speakers, change to better wire.

Speaker wire has been upgraded as I don't know how to tie into existing wire with an amp. Remote wire is from Pac AOEM CHR3 (I don't have the CHY as I don't have the Alpine setup).
