Hey guys long time listener, first time caller...I have an 01 Ram 1500 4x4 sport with the off road package and the 360. I love it. Last Thanksgiving I completed an NV3500 swap and it was very simple. The posts I read on here made it very clear what all needed to be done. Everything works great and I am happy with the results....except....I have the CEL from the computer not seeing any of the 46re's sensors. Hasn't been an issue for me (yes I have to tap the gas before hitting the brake) but now I am getting close to needing an e-check done (lucky me). Just curious what my best approach would be....a custom tune? Or is there a stock ECM that'll work for my application? I have the ECM from the 99 Ram I stripped for the swap but it had the 318. I'm not sure if that'll work or not. Would an ECM from a 2500 work since they were available with the 360/NV4500 setup? I don't hotrod it to the point I need a tuner but if that's my only option then so be it. I'd really like to find a stock ECM that'll work if possible. Thanks in advance!

You can run the 5.2 pcm long as it's a cooperative year, it'll just run a bit lean. You can get a custom tune. Nv4500/360 pcm will also work and is probably the next option if you're not wanting custom tuning

Does a cooperative year have to be same year? I looked around online and it seems like companies want your VIN to burn a ECM for you...if I just give a VIN for a 2001 2500 with the 360/NV4500 would that work? Or do I have a BCM that'll fight with it?

Cooperative years are like 94 and 95, 96 and 97, 98 and 99, 2000+.

The vin is to flash it so the vin on a scanner is the same as the vehicle vin. Don't want it to look stolen lol

Ahhh.... so I can't give a VIN off a 360/NV4500 3/4 ton because it won't match my VIN then. So it looks like a custom tune through a programmer is my only option. Is Hemifever my best option?

1. No, you can order a pcm, just give them your vin. It'll just be flashed to match but the engine/trans combo will be what you ordered
2. God no. Flyinryan is the guy to get custom tuning from. Hemifever is crap for us anymore, he only cares about the hemis and doesn't tune us for **** then blames us for his screw ups that he tells us to do.

The few places I've talked to will only program the ECM to the drivetrain specs of the given VIN. I'll check out flyinryan, thanks!

Sorry guys for the long overdue update...found a company local to me here in the Cleveland Ohio area called Mann's Mobile. They do OEM computer programming out of their company cars for repair shops so they don't have to move or tow customers vehicles to dealerships for programming. They came out to my house and reprogrammed my original computer to a 5.9 V8/manual transmission tune. Chrysler has this tune available for 1500s for whatever reason. Trucks been running great, no lights on dash, pass emissions testing, and I am still able to use my power programmer. All for $130, it couldn't have worked out any better. I hope this will help someone out there who is doing/contemplating the swap.
