My neighbors aren't very happy that the horn beeps twice when I start my truck with the remote start system. I'm not a fan of it either. I have set my personal prefferences with the dealer's computer system including truning off the chirp when locking the truck with the remote. However that did not defeat the start beep.

While at the dealership this morning, I asked a tech to see if he could disable the feature. If it can be done, he couldn't figure it out.

Does anyone have any specific information about this?

Thanks, Mutt

Hmmm, I know there are some settings relating to remote start in your EVIC, along with honking on unlock, flashing on unlock, FOB unlock sequence, etc. I am not sure that honking on remote start is in there though... I would think if it was the tech would have altered this easily.

Just a side question though, if you had to have the dealership turn of the chirp on lock, do you not have EVIC? Or, how do you have no EVIC, but do have remote start?

I find it odd that your horn chirps twice on startup. Mine does not, although I will say that I have a 2011 to your 2012.

Mine does the chirp and I think I have turned it off before using the EVIC on my 09. I will have to check but I don't really see why they are ******** get exhaust and then say you should not have *******.

I thought your truck might not have EVIC since you were saying you took it to the dealer for this stuff...

How is it that you have remote start, and no EVIC? Is this via LockPic or whatever?

No, none of that. My Express came the keyless entry. I made the dealer add the OE remote start as part of the purchase deal. Outside of that it is right about of the box.

Putting the horns on a switched 12V source shouldn't be hard....then they'll only work when the key is on.

if the dealer installed it they should be able to disable it unless its not OEM. What kind of remote do you have?

Sucks man, I feel like the tech just needed to look harder. If all the sales codes are there for it to work, and the horn chirps when it starts, it has to be the case that the programming exists to disable it lol.

Good luck.

Wow, I just posted the same question in the general section. I didn't see this thread doing a google search. I am in the exact same boat. I have a 2012 Express, I had the dealer install factory Mopar remote start, but I don't have the EVIC. I have a 14" Magnaflow installed and I swear the horn beeps are more annoying at 4:30 AM than the exhaust. Did you ever find a solution? Can it be done with the Trinity?

It is the OE kit, it came with two keys that had to matches to the truck.
