I use SI-1 at least once before every oil change, but the way I do it is to let the gas tank run down to 1/4, then add 2 15oz bottles at the gas station and then fill the tank. I always use Top Tier ethanol-free 90 octane.
The bottle says the 15oz size will treat 21 gallons, and I have a 26 gallon tank, so 1 bottle would never be full strength.
I could save money on SI-1 by adding to 1/2 tank or so. My concern is the silly uneven shape of my tank. When the gauge shows 1/2 tank it typically takes 15-17 gallons to fill it. That math ain't mathing.
A full tank is always a known 26 gallons so I roll with that. The combination of SI-1, the gas I always use, my oil strategy, all result in a Hemi that is whisper quiet at warm idle and that idle is so smooth I can't tell the engine is running from the driver's seat. Neither can my passengers.
My truck is a 5.7L 2014 with 126,000 miles. Just my anecdotal addition to the pile of experienced results.
