So the NAPA Gold is a step down in filtration?
See the highlighted link, the only one that states synthetic media is napa platinum. See oil filter thread for more info.

There is wix and wix xp which is their top of the line, napa gold is likely wix but not wix xp.

The one thing we all have to remember is how things change from year to year with oil formulas and oil filter construction. Nothing stays the same, sometimes for the worse sometimes for the better. Just have to siphon threw the noise and find the science.

I’ve also so heard that Fram is the worst to buy I’ve always stayed away from them…

k&n finished in top spot for paper filters in the gm test, but every synthetic and synthetic blend tested finished above it. Meaning, those filters simply let less contamination though, proven with patch testing.

I used Fram (cheapo line from Walmart) for years When I was less endowed financially. I did have an oil pump failure in a Olds that I was using them in but had to Buy Walmart Brand oil for the change that the pump went out on. Assumed it was the oil but could have been filter.

With each mfg making so many lines of filters it's hard to keep up. Also have to be a lot more specific when you talk about a brand.

When this forum speaks of Fram Oil Filters, we are talking about the Ultra XG Synthetic series - not their cheapos.

Ultra XG has been vetted over the years by this and other forums (BITOG) as one of the top two for effectiveness and quality. The other is Royal Purple. Please educate yourself before making uninformed statements. That's the purpose of these enthusiast forums. Both these filter series are made in the USA. You pay more. So what? An extra $5 every 6 months to protect your $9,500 engine from catastrophic destruction from valve lifter failure is nothing. Not even beer money. C'mon, guys.

I heard something changed in the construction of the fram ultra in the past year or so? It is still supposed to be highly rated but maybe not the top as it was previously?

This is an opinion only. What Oil filter are you using in your Ram 1500? I have always stayed away from FRAM. Just wondering what most use? There are 10s of choices. just want to see what most use.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance Filter ... Been using this filter on my trucks for years with no issues ...

I've been using FRAM filters since the 1960's and have never had an engine failure with them. For all you young WipperSnappers out there here are a few FRAM TV commercial from the 1960' & 70's.

I had a Fram filter blow up a engine in the mid 80's,it was -40 when i started the car,ran back inside to let the car warm up,and the filter expanded, and lost the gasket seal, and dumped all the oil on the ground,by the time i came back out to it,the crank was squeaking, never been a fan of Fram since then,as they wouldn't warrenty the engine or their filter.

I just use Fram! I have 220,000 miles never had cam failure! I also use cheap supertech Walmart 5w30 oil. Although I was using Pup 5w30 up till 2019.
I put 279k on a ‘05 Caravan on Super Tech oil. Good stuff for cheap.

Well it made me feel a little better about being a Fram user. After some of the comments I was afraid to say I use Fram but after seeing those pads from the tests, Hell Ya Im a Fram Man!
