I've my oil and filter combo figured out and ain't changing. I'm not going to "experiment" with anything more.

The cost of the possibility of having to replacing an engine or components vs oci's at every 3000 mile intervals is an piece of mind for me.

Happy motoring and hammer down to all.

cool, but dont go running off. I have a hemi that will tick with bad flow filters, so stick around a couple weeks when I test the fram fe2 to see if my engine ticks. I know you are on the boss, but just for an alternative, you never know when boss does a redesign that we don't like.

Reading some Bitog (sorry), it's amazing how these companies have bought each other and changed materials and locations.
That's why I rail against giant corporations. Also having worked at one such.

Imo, the FRAM FE2 SYNTHETIC Endurance and Purolator Boss PBL 24651 are very good alternatives to the RP 20-820 and are readily available.

I've cut all three of them open for my personal visual comparison and the quality of the media/overall construction of the oil filters compare the same.
I just bought a Fram FE2 for my next change this Sunday. $12.97 @ WalMart

Did you check louvers were fully punched?

I've read the quality control hasn't been the greatest, maybe that was early production?
No, have not taken it out of the box. I can take some pics when I get back home tomorrow evening. What should I be looking for?

The core inner tube has punched slotted holes instead of laser cut. Cheapest way to make high volume holes in sheets (personal design experience).

If they don't design it right, the punch doesn't go deep enough leaving some holes closed or partially closed. Look done the tube with a bore scope for a rifle and see if they're all open.

Well, don't have a borescope, hopefully I can get my small light in there enough to see.

Might have been better off sticking wth the XG2......lol

I'm just reporting some comments I saw on Booob's, it might be a rare thing or no longer a thing, just have a look to be sure. This filter is supposed to be less restrictive element while retaining filtering efficiency, so that's a good thing. We are learning about it here, you are a first buyer.
I plan to try it but next OCI isn't until November.

So, I am the guinea pig......lol.

I will be a little over on miles...maybe. I don't have my service log in front of me since we are traveling.

Fwiw, and for fun, my first time to cut open and personally view and share w/random pics of the MOPAR MO 899 oil filter:

• The outer case of the oil filter looks and feels durable until it is cut open, then the case is rather thin.

• The base plate is heavy and has large eight inlet holes and a beefy gasket, probably the only two good things.

• The anti drain back valve is thin/flimsy and is odd looking, probably due to the by-pass valve being at the top instead of the bottom.

• The by-pass valve is at the top and and has an internal spring/valve that is one piece with the core inner tube. Also, I don't know what psi rating it is for it to open.

• Filter media looks and feels like some type of cellulose fiber/paper and is glued together, not crimped and can be easily torn. There isn't any metal wire backing on the filter media.

•The inner core is fluted and doesn't seem to look restrictive.

• Don't know why there is the "leaf spring" at the bottom of the filter, the by-pass valve is internal in the filter core and at the top.

• There's no indication of whom manufactured it. It does quote on the oil filter that it's made in the US, 2023 FCA US LLC, all rights reserved.

Well, I've might of missed something, but imo, this oil filter is just "basic, get the vehicle off the assembly line" low oci oil filter ... I can't believe that I've used this oil filter religiously in the past, good thing I changed the oil filter at every three thousand miles, because that's most definitely looks to be of it's limit.

Thanks for doing that!

The bypass at the top is actually a good thing, IIRC it has something to do with dirty oil not leaving the filter during bypass. I believe the filter for the viper/v10 uses this design?

Still curious about the efficiency. It's obviously a cheap filter but if you're only doing 5000 miles and it has competitive efficiency.......

When I pulled the smaller version off my truck this spring I cut it open after about 10,000 kms (6200 miles) and it was in minty fresh condition. All the pleats were lined up perfectly, no tears anywhere, the cheap ADBV held up with no lifter rattle at any time during my usage, and yeah that outer case feels stronger than the Fram Ultra.

Not suggesting we use it, the Fram/Purloator/RP still seems a much safer option if you can get them.

The incredible hulk is alive and puts oil filters on for Stellantis.

I did first oil change today on my 2024 Ram 1500 Warlock. 5 different oil filter removal tools were utilized and failed to get the mo339 filter off the truck for its first change.

I've never seen a filter this tight in the entire time I've been changing oil on automobiles. Some 50 plus years.

Final resolution was the jaws of life which immediately punctured the thin metal of the mopar filter leaving the job as a no way to go back endeavor.

Just thankful I was able to finally get filter off after 2 and 1/2 hours. RP 20-820 will fit, but only one way to get the filter to the housing and due to how you have to turn the filter it will be almost impossible to pre fill.

Good news the 20-820 fit perfectly, no leaks, and the 0-30 Redline increased idle oil pressure by 5 points. From 39 to 44. Running pressure is 58 at startup and settles in at 53 once up to temp.

As soon as the warranty expires this baby is getting a remote filter set-up.

Well, after looking at the MO899 first hand, IMHO, that oil filter is adequate enough to pass QC probably, getting it off the assembly line.

I'd never use it again or recommend it to anyone.

Yep, it's obvious that it's a cheap filter, lol.
