I can't remember if this had been discussed here or not, but does anyone have any info on these PPE filters? On paper they look pretty good...

I have one of their filters in my 65RFE , it is much longer than the factory, and it fits in my oversized aluminum transmission pan.
It’s been in for about 6 months and a couple thousand miles , no issues, so still testing.

IMHO you can get much better oil filters for the same price or less, too me a nominal rating for that kind of money is over priced

How did you guys learn of PPE filters? Never heard of them.
I was looking at RFE transmission parts , before I serviced mine.
I. saw the larger filter for th 68rfe and figured it had more area , and would fit well in my new oversized pan.
I’m obsessed with researching parts when it’s time to work on something.
Plus I have lots of time .

In Florida? Come on up here when the temp is below zero for weeks on end and windy. You'll need to rent a storage shed.

I put this on my 66RFE because it doesn't filter too fine. Without a differential pressure guage readout, I don't want a fine silt filter in there. I'm trading wear life for oil flow. I used paint solvent to remove the paint.

I've lost track of who owns WIX anymore. It's a joke.

Well, the great man that created the holding conglomerate corporation First Brands with other people's money is having a fire sale in bankruptcy court.

So far, he's trying to save Fram & Trico, and keep them making products, while trying to sell off the dogs to enable it. That's flawed, of course - he'll get pennies on the dollar for the dogs, not enough to save the stars.

Fuching moron. I'd suggest pondering other suppliers by summer.

FRAM IP is the only thing worth a hoot. Legacy manufacturing assets and debt that has been kited across multiple owners is what has dragged that brand down. The brand needs to start fresh with newer manufacturing designs and methods and that may mean off shoring to someone like PGI/VAFI.

How are you able to borrow $1.1B to 'start' a bankruptcy?

Seems like these conglomerates are the death knell for the companies they acquire. The bigwigs suck all the money out, then they die.

I have always wondered why all automatic transmissions don’t have external spin on filter like the Allison one GM uses behind the Duramax in the HDs.
Wife’s & daughters Nissan have both external canister (not spin on) and internal filter. Didn’t seem to help the crappy cvt tranny though.

I've never understood this, Ed - yet we see it over & over again. What financial entities are so stupid to loan to these vulture capitalist looters? It continues on to this day despite these collapses publicized over & over.
